@bunzeebear2973

ground squirrels are day time creatures that stick to the trees mostly(chipmunks). However if you are talking about marmots, if you don't catch them they will come knocking on your front door to hand you out a religious tract. (Mormon - marmot sounds the same to my mom.) Marmots will invade a garden that is full of veges (so will Mormons). They do keep the school grounds clean of left over pizza and other food the kids toss and miss the garbage barrels. It is interesting to watch a marmot fight a crow and seagull for the same food...which sometimes happens.

I think I wouldn't want wires exposed for rats to jump and grab

You could put nails angled down around the top of the bucket to keep the rats in.

Hey @ Shawn Woods, I caught a bat the other day in a victor snap mouse trap that was on the floor. Was using peanut butter for bait intending to catch mice. I don't know why the bat was out and about this time of year, figured all the bats were hibernating this time of year. Have you ever heard of this happening?

Rats are smart. I think they figured out this trap. I wasn't surprised when they jumped/climbed out. Great vid.
