The quraysh rejected qadr, hence they did affirm independence for their idols from God. In fact, in a way, they affirmed some independence as well for themselves from God. Remember, qadr is the belief that nothing happens unless Allah wills. If you reject this, you are in fact claiming independence from His Will.

This will always be a logical fallacy, you can never have partial tawheed, that's the whole point of tawheeed! Either you believe in One God or you don't!
