I want him to be heard but I fell like huge venues somewhat water down music. I love the intimate shows ... well, I did love them back before our new reality we now find ourselves in. Saw them play Red Rocks right before the release of Evening Machines, it was meant for this kind of music. :)

I want to see him singing in some river while we hear his voice, guitar and the water splashing as we circle around him and close our eyes.

Naykat but I'd never say I'd love you dear, just to hear you say it back. Some of the most beautifully and most poetically written, every line is gold, by an amazing and humble dude, never gets old!

He’s a national treasure...the best folk singer today and imagine watching him live...here I am in Australia it’s raining and I’m listening to this...awesome

As someone who has seen him live and has heard this song live: this song becomes so intimate because all of his band members leave the stage and it’s just him and his guitar on stage with this song. It’s so personal
@doannha215 Жыл бұрын
I came back to this particular version of this song also on this rainy night when it’s all quiet outside just the sound of the rain blanketing this darkest hour of the night. This version feels like a night rain itself

"It seems that he is engrossed in praying, not in singing." Saw that comment on this song in another video. The most accurate thing ever. He is different.

Lakovic Nikola His guitar skills are average, nice variety of chords but average picking patterns.
@nikolalakovic818 жыл бұрын
It doesn't matter if it's average, whole melody is just in place. Too "strong" music and too "strong" words are not going together, I think it's not receptive. :)

Doroteo Garza what kind of picking pattern is in this song?

[Verse 1] Dreaming up this golden grain But I'm falling from this shack Talking sweet to the queen Wishing I was riding with the jacks Walking proud and lonesome now Oh I'm yearning for the pack But I'd never say "I love you," dear Just to hear you say it back [Verse 2] I've heard the road to every truth It's just a cul-de-sac There's ladies and the lions there But you know it's just an act You search the world for the milk of the pearl She always takes it black But you'll love her till it all goes dark You'll love her even after that

So I created my channel, just to comment on this video. That is saying a lot for me. I want to know forever where Gregory Alan Isakov is playing his wonderful, emotional, inspiring music. I would love to listen in person,and maybe one day learn to make melody with my poetry as he does.
@MrJaseg19714 жыл бұрын
Saw you in Portland Maine this summer, I just cannot believe the quality of writing and musicianship. Gregory is a master of capturing words, sayings, sentences spewed from others as a fleeting comment. He writes with such emotion and relevance. I would love to sit for a day with this old soul.

An absolute treat for the ears, the heart and the soul. One of the most hauntingly beautiful songs with lashing of lyrical genius and a level of honesty that makes for a truly rare experience. Thank you Gregory for sharing your truth, your gift and your creative wonders with the world.
