I can't believe it took me 7 years to find two of my favorite artists playing together. First saw Bonnie in Nederland in 2008, and then Isakov in Nashville in 2016. Good things in life sometimes come in far increments. It is 2020 and I know these two need to pair up more soon....that's only if they stand on common grounds?

Most human things worth reaching for in life come in increments, small or far ones. Never without doubt, pain or tears but also bursts of joy and self-realization. Mastering an instrument, an academic study field, honing one's body to its perfect physical potential, devotion to a cherished career etc. I am in the process of finding that motivation to incrementally improve again, and just went on this ramble based on that single word on your comment. Apologies about that. You however, I'd wager, have a great taste in music, just based on these two being examples of your favourites. Thanks for a very positive "trigger-word" to remind me why I keep trudging on.

This version reminds me of the show “Over the Garden wall” mostly since the saw instrument is used in a lot of the show’s soundtrack

Yes! OTGW and Gregory Alan Isakov's music have a similar feeling to them :)

"Words" Words mean more at night Like a song And did you ever notice The way light means more than it did all day long? Words mean more at night Light means more Like your hair and your face and your smile And our bed and the dress that you wore So I’ll send you my words From the corners of my room And though I write them by the light of day Please read them by the light of the moon And I wish I could leave my bones and my skin And float over the tired tired sea So that I could see you again Maybe you would leave too And we’d blindly pass each other Floating over the ocean blue Just to find the warm bed of our lover And I’ll send you my words From the corners of my room And though I write them by the light of day Please read them by the light of the moon

Wonderful song. Excellent job by Ms. Paine. It seems the saw can be used to make music, not just ghostly sound effects. That's a rare accomplishment!

Breathtaking version... Coincidentally, I did a cover of this song myself on an open mic night recently. Those who are interested can find it on my channel. I met Greg and Bonnie last month when they were on tour in the Netherlands. Just as breathtaking then... Thanks for existing you guys: I feel like it gives me a reason to exist as well. Love, Jo

It looks like a C + third fret on low E, and then move it all up a string. Just look at what he's doing with his fingers and copy it.

Let me introduce Bonnie Paine, one of the most wonderful musicians to hit the stage in many years. Look her up with Elephant Revival, specifically Ring Around the Moon, for more of her magical saw and heart rending voice...
@jeffmiller55439 жыл бұрын
For the people who were asking, I'm pretty sure she is playing some kind of Theremin.

Negative. That sir, is a simple saw and bow. That's right, the rusty old thing in the shed used for cross-cutting wood by hand. Turns out a well-rosined bow makes all sorts of fun noises when you bend the saw in your lap... pretty clear in the 2:30 range...

How I hate the saw as an 'instrument' . For anyone with perfect pitch it's absolute torture to listen to.
@kennethmory18035 жыл бұрын
I have perfect pitch, and the ethereal sound of her voice and her saw is what originally drew me to Bonnie Paine. Her body of work is incredible.
