Welcome back Molly but of course Maternity Leave is not easy. Watching you both working together was such a pleasure, hope your hand is OK Molly you sure gave that a hard hit. Dylan I agree with so many other subscribes you are an amazing young man, for me a true craftsman, you never rush when working out the Angles for cutting, so many do and mess up the wood which really is costly. Your Pops is a Diamond for sure and it is heart warming to see you work together. Sending love to you all ❤️💙💙xxxxx Big Hugs 🤗 for Owen xx

Dylan, your joinery is NICE! I do not want to presume to tell you how to build, but I hope you view this optimistically - when doing your half laps at the top of your posts, consider not making the lap the full width of the post, shorten each side by 1”. What this does is leave a full thickness of the beam bearing on the post… we used to do this on our log cabin porches in north Arkansas.

Gotcha. We call those wind braces or knees. They won’t be necessary because of the way I’m “sheathing” it with 1” thick boards.

Heya, your Dad and Molly are great. I love the construction design-very much built to last. What are the plans for the cabin? Will it be a simple solitude place for thinking or a guest cabin or a nearby “roughin’ it” retreat. Do you already have the interior elements planned? Keep the videos coming as they are fun.
@anthony281614 күн бұрын
Before I started watching this channel, my idea of making a shed like this would involve three steps: 1) Drive to Home Depot. 2) Buy a LOT of 2x4s. 3) Nail 'em together.
@BreakingBarriers2DIY14 күн бұрын
I wonder if a chain hoist might be good for some of these lifting things? I find that the chain hoist allows the high point to be in a fixed place and the lifting to be more smooth and accurate? Still a clever idea how you built it in place at height.

Dylan, coming from someone who used to frame houses full time and has logged many hours on a circular saw. Circular saws kickback. Watching you on this build has been tough to watch. Please keep your off-hand away from the saw. You’re guiding it along your cuts with your hand both beside and behind which is extremely dangerous. 20years ago my dad ended up with a saw cutting right into his knee because of an accident with kickback. Just like a table saw, you never know when, and you c at be too careful.g

You’re other Internet dad here… Terrified to see you walk under an unsecured beam (12:11). It just takes an instant for something bad to happen but only a few extra seconds to walk completely around. Also, gloves and saws do not mix. If they get caught, they will pull your hand right into the blade 100% of the time. I choose cold and 10 fingers, always.
