THESE are the kinds of movies I love. Something that shakes up the normal movie tropes in a clever and unexpected way. 99% of all rom-coms are formulaic and pedantic. THIS one looks to be just quirky and different enough to be worth a look. And that cast!! Anne Hathaway, Peter Dinklage, and Marisa Tomei? The cast alone is worth a view.

@@blacklavouxI can see that part too, about her not shining in action like she used to shine in her older movies but I think she’s at the top of her game now too. She’s done the big titles and won her awards, now she’s able to chose roles she actually wants to play bc she likes the character or whatever her reason. She has the power to be picky and probably has tons of scripts she can pick from. I like that she’s taking that risk of playing characters we wouldn’t have expected given her history. I think I saw a trailer for a comedy she’s in soon and she looked so funny in it already, but not quirky nerdy girl humor like she played for so long, it was adult raunchy humor. I think so many of us think of that prim and proper princess persona as a part of who she truly is in her real life, so it’s not expected to hear her say something raunchy but she is. And the best part is that it doesn’t feel odd or like she shouldn’t be saying it, she’s such an amazing actress she can pull off both sides and it comes off natural.

It‘s hard to really tell from a Trailer, but given that Peter Dinkelage plays an Opera-composer, there might be allusions to (and subversions of) famous Opera tropes.

I like ones that tell a good story. I think that's the problem with a lot of Hollywood today. Risk aversion is so rampant that it's hard to get somethign that may work OKAY greenlit. Everyone wants the next Marvels or Star Wars or Gone with the Wind. I'd pay to see this in a theater over ANOTHER There's Something about Mary or Jersey Boy.
