​@@johnmcminn9455your tendons can grow stronger (well, not exactly stronger, but thicker and more resistant which is more or less the same) with certain exercises, which leads to being able to do these kinds of squats. As long as the exercise is done properly then it will reinforce your knees, not destroy them

Just tried the shrimp squat and slammed my knee into the floor so hard 😩 definitely harder than a pistol IMO. She made them all look so easy

I think holding the back leg in the shrimp squat makes forces you to be more upright vs pistol might let you lean forward more. But the range of motion is shorter

Yes. After 17 years of inline skating with a 50lb backpack,these are less difficult now. The crossover one is challenging. These are a great way to increase your leg & knee strength. ☯️🧘‍♂️☯️

I got through 4 no problem. Then, shrimp... omg. Stuck at the bottom and no hope of getting up. Though pistol squats weren't too bad. Idk what it means tho. Must have some imbalances somewhere

I've done the shrimp squat just stuffing around one day when I was warming up for squats. I found it was similar to the touch down box and I didn't need the stack of plates

I'm 56 with the back and joints of a 90 something. I used to lift very heavy weights. Going to focus on body weight exercises and yoga. This will be one of them!

This is phenomenal leg strength. I’d like a training plan to take me through all 7 of these stages. Do you have one? I am a cyclist and runner, so I’m interested more in functional leg strength rather than squatting big weights.

Just have to do the regressions of these exercises. Start with the heels elevated, etc. there are tons of videos on ankle mobility related to squatting

'Behind the heel' can get you super-low with support and stability if you need it. I think it's the best for hypertrophy without struggling with the skill. Also good for knee pain.

Maybe I’m crazy, but I can see do a few reps of pistol squats but I absolutely cannot manage a single shrimp squat. I’ve even managed a few dragon squats!

You’re not crazy. IMO the dragon squat isn’t too bad when you get the technique down. It seems convoluted, but the leg positioning helps a lot with balance. Case in point; it’s much easier to pause and hold at the bottom of the dragon squat, than it is vs. The pistol or the shrimp.

I feel like the Shrimp squat has shown me a weakness in my overall squat form, so I’ve been slowly shrimp squatting with more depth over time to solve that issue. Hoping to see some good progress in the next few weeks/months. I’d love to have as immaculate of form as the girl demonstrating them all!

i just hit pr 65 kg(my own body weight 🥲) squat pr 4 reps . i have pain in lower back when in curved position, there is pain in tibia location , i fear deadlifts will break my spine so i only do 70kg (4sets of 8) ,ill be scouring your channel gonna make notes , record snippets , record myself compare and improve form .thx a lot S uni

What can I do if I have bad ankle mobility? I always fall backwards when getting lower, I can't get my center of gravity in a position where I can support it. I tried hinging forward, to stretch my calves, but I can't even get a stretch there, it just feels like my ankle is blocking the movement. If I put pressure on it it starts feeling uncomfortable and pinched. Can I fix this somehow?
