Her musical arrangement. She won Norway's Got Talent when she was eight AND gave the prize money to charity. She is Norway's youngest published author. She has twice sang at the Nobel peace prize ceremonies. This young lady really is incredible.

That was a good idea and very nicely executed. 👍 on sax: Trygve Rypestøl - he is a Norwegian musician and university lecturer based in Kristansand (southern Norway). He received his Bachelor’s degree the same year (2015) that this was recorded and completed a master's degree at the University of Agder four years later. In addition he got practical pedagogical education at the Norwegian Academy of Music, so he can now teach clarinet and saxophone at his university. He mainly plays the tenor saxophone and is passionate about improvisation and various forms of jazz. So it is no surprise he really enjoyed this particular recording session with Angelina who's also strongly rooted in jazz. Alongside teaching, he is a freelance musician and regularly performs with various bands. He is a permanent member of Kristiansand Storband and the jazz trio Trafalgar.

Cliff she was 9. You should know that. 😊 Also she arranged the music including all the instruments. When she was 6 she met a girl selling weighing in a scale for money. She had no shows. She talked to her and discovered she supported her family by weighing people. She was bare footed with campuses. Angelina gave her the shoes she was wearing, which Angelina says were her favorite. She vowed not to wear shoes until all children have shoes who want them.❤

First and foremost, she is a jazz singer but has the ability to sing any genre. She also does all of her own musical arrangements. Even though she has been compared by many to Amy Winehouse, her major influence is Billie Holiday. Other influences are Dinah Washington, Louis Armstrong, Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, Etta James, Whitney Houston, and Adele to name a few. Her love of jazz came from her grandmother playing jazz music around her when she was young. Angelina actually started singing at the age of 18 months. In 2014, she entered at age 7 and won Norway's Got Talent at the age of 8. With her new found fame, she used it to appear on many shows from abroad and help raise millions for the less fortunate children around the world. At age 13, she was invited to participate on America's Got Talent: The Champions in 2020. She shocked the audience and the judges with her rendition of Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen. It can't be that hard to do a 2 minute research and prepare this info, like her age, why she performs with no shoes, that she is a self taught singer since age 3, that English isn't even her language... you know, to be accurate and interesting, before having someone react to it and also carefully prepare the first few questions beforehand in order to do this right. No I couldn’t remember her life story on the spot after working 18 hours and hopping behind my camera to introduce her to an amazing artist. That was my goal here. I don’t do cuts or edits and I want people to see what’s REAL. What’s real is not knowing everything and researching. I’m not a news anchor, I’m a songwriter for hip hop music and I work on hundreds- thousands of my own songs each year. It’s impossible for me to have 6 KZbin channels, run a 20,000sq ft studio that works with approximately 3000 steady clients per year, be close with my friends and family and give everyone thousands of videos to enjoy. So no, I didn’t remember right there on the spot but I DID pull up the backstory at the end of the video. Hope that helps you understand a bit about me/ us.

Cliff and Karen, that was fun. Karen, this video was very, VERY unique and stands alone because it was so incredible. She was actually 9 years old in this video. Here are a few songs I know you will enjoy listening to: 'Stay' when she was 12; 'You Say' when she was 15; 'Unchained Melody' when she was 17; 'Bad Valentine' (the jazzy video with only the album cover) at 18 years old. Oh, I almost forgot, her version of 'Bohemian Rhapsody' at 13 years old. Karen, she has over 200 video's on you tube and social media and her singing style, well, I'll let Angelina take it from here! In regards to 'Bad Valentine', she wrote it with Toby Gad and he plays the piano for her in the jazzy version. She has recorded at least 6 different versions of the song and my guess is it might be nominated for a Grammy. We shall see. Cliff, you did a great job introducing Karen to Angelina. It was winter in the Middle East, AJ and her mom Sara went for a walk in the icy rain and they saw a little girl about the same age as AJ (6) sitting on the wet street weighing people for a bit of money. The girl was barefoot with scars on her feet, clad in rags. AJ got into a conversation (in Farsi) with the girl Princess and gave Princess her shoes. Princess promised to pray every day for AJ. AJ vowed that day to perform barefoot on stage until every child has shoes. She kept this Vow, except in places where there are splinters on the ground, like restaurants and shops with lots of glas. For I Put A Spell On You - Angelina was 9 years old - Her nationality is Norwegian but is fluent in English even at this age - This song was not arranged for her - she wrote the vocal arrangement based on listening to the original Screamin' Jay Hawkins version and communicated to the band how she wanted it to be played - in fact, at the beginning of the video you see Angelina writing down some last-minute changes "her wishes" and it is read by the recording producer/engineer. You also notice that her own handwritten notes are on the music stand in front of her as she sings. For more insight into how Angelina works, here is a rehearsal video with some of the same band members at the same age (9 yrs old) - You will see that she is aware of what each musician is doing and communicates to them what she wants to do. The first thing she says is that she wants to start, followed by her saying she wants to start over, later she tells the pianist that the key is too low and that she wants to raise it a half-tone, then at the end of the song she changes the ending on the fly. This was her nineth birthday present from her father cliff ? He rented the recording studio that came with the band for 2,500.00 she was only 9 years old . after they were done the band told her anytime you need us to play for you just call us we'll be there. I seen them playing for her at a few live concerts in Norway so she must have took them up on the offer. By the way there nickname for her is the Boss cuz she arranges all the music and words for the songs and she directs them with her pen or hand while she's singing. *Why Angelina always performs barefoot* At age 6, while traveling in the Middle East with her mother and grandmother, Angelina noticed a girl around her age standing on the side of the road, asking people to step on her bathroom scale to be weighed in hopes of getting some money. Angelina took off her shoes so as to not get the scale dirty and stepped on the scale many times to make the girl feel better. Angelina befriends the girl who was not wearing shoes and has scars on her feet, and learns she is an orphan. The orphan girl tells Angelina how beautiful she thinks her shoes are. Angelina says her shoes don’t fit her well and she wants to give her shoes to the orphan girl who thanks Angelina for giving her the shoes. Angelina asked the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and the girl replied, “I want to become a doctor, but that will never happen since I have no parents and I have siblings so I have to do whatever is necessary for us to survive.” Angelina told the girl to never give up on her dreams. The poor girl asked Angelina what she wanted to be when she grew up and Angelina replied that she wanted to sing for the whole world. The poor girl said she would pray every day so Angelina’s dream would come true. Angelina never learned the orphan's name but called her Princess. The orphan girl replied, "princesses live in castles, we live in ruins". Angelina titled her song about this story, "Princess of Ruins". Angelina still says she thinks of that homeless girl every day and has always performed barefoot to remind her of all the children who are less fortunate. At age 9, she became the youngest published author in Norway’s history by writing a book about this encounter in the Middle East. First of all, this young girl is extremely talented, amazingly so actually. Now that I've cleared that up. If I'm sitting at home, I'm giving 2 choices of which song song to listen to either the Original from Creedence or this Young girl I would Always Choose credence. The song she performed and as good as she dit's a comment on her talent. But when you're given a choice to which version to listen to, you're always going to go with the original.
