Great reaction. She's actually 9-years-old here. Her grandmother introduced her to jazz very early in life, but Angelina is basically self-taught. She learnt her craft by listening to Billie Holiday and other jazz greats, and is blessed with a beautiful voice. There is no understanding how she can be this mature at her age, but she is and that's all there is to it! Where to go next? Anywhere you like. Everything she sings is phenomenal. Maybe start when she really was 7 and auditioning for Norway's Got Talent with Gloomy Sunday. That's when she blew up on the internet. She is now 18 and sounds unbelievable. I can't wait to hear your next Angelina reaction!

Angelina was 9 years old in this performance - Her nationality is Norwegian but is fluent in English even at this age - This song was not arranged for her - she wrote the vocal arrangement based on listening to the original Screamin' Jay Hawkins version and communicated to the band how she wanted it to be played - in fact, at the beginning of the video you see Angelina writing down some last-minute changes and it is read by the bandleader. You also notice that her own handwritten notes are on the music stand in front of her as she sings. For more insight into how Angelina works, here is a rehearsal video with some of the same band members at the same age (9 yrs old) - You will see that she is aware of what each musician is doing and communicates to them what she wants to do. The first thing she says is that she wants to start, followed by her saying she wants to start over, later she tells the pianist that the key is too low and that she wants to raise it a half-tone, then at the end of the song she changes the ending on the fly. The spoken language is Norwegian: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bmHJZKdpmdJ1mM0

Another spell was cast by 9yo Angelina. Let’s analyze the video: 1st you see how small and cute she is. 2nd you see she is barefoot (story below) 3rd You see her making her “Wish List” of suggested changes to the song. 4th the band leader taking note of the changes. 5th Angelina is holding a candle with “Screemin’ Jay Hawkin’s (original artist 1956) picture on it. 6th the old soul in her voice. She is the youngest published author in Norway. Angelina wrote and her Grandmother illustrated a book about why she sings barefoot. She was on a trip to Iran where her grandmother is from and met a street girl weighing people for money. Angelina sat and talked with the girl. Angelina asked the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and the girl replied, a doctor but that it could never happen. Angelina told her to never give up hope. The girl complimented Angelina on her shoes and Angelina noticed her scarred bare feet so she gave them to her, and the little girl told Angelina she would pray for her every day. Angelina sings barefoot to this day to remind herself (and the world) that there are still children in need. All book proceeds go to charity.

Thanks for your insightful comments. Norwegian born Angelina Jordan began singing at the age of one and a half, and by age three was listening to jazz and classics legends on repeat. Her grandmother was her greatest influence, but Angelina chose her own path. Her first studio performance was at age 7, singing I Who Have Nothing. She won Norway's Got Talent at the age of only 8, singing old time classics from Billie Holliday and George Gershwin, and became one of the youngest ever vocalists to win an international Got Talent Show! Her performance at 9 years old of Screamin Jay Hawkins, I Put a Spell on You is considered one of the finest recordings ever of a 9-year-old vocalist! Angelina also went viral on America's Got Talent the champions in 2020 with her unique versions of Bohemian Rhapsody and Goodbye Yellow Brick Road. Angelina sings in English which unbelievably is her third language! She is a true prodigy. She is now 18, and has recorded a huge library of songs, including covers and several originals. A major attraction to Angelina's music is the emotion and attitude she conveys, although she has not experienced the life events! She is known as the barefoot princess of 1,000 voices as she can adjust her tone, style, and register for any song or genre. She was signed by Republic Records when she was 14. She was not widely promoted for a few years, as her family wanted to allow her a normal childhood. However, things are changing rapidly as she has now graduated school. She has released two original music video singles from Republic Records, Love Don't Let Me Go, and Now I'm the Fool, coinciding with her new six song EP called Old Enough. The four other songs have been released as visualizers. A world tour is in the works, likely to coincide with her full album release. Here is a semi-chronological KZbin playlist for Angelina of over 200 songs, beginning with 16 performances including originals, her EP, and a few specialty songs. Then it starts chronologically beginning with Gloomy Sunday from Norway's Got Talent. kzbin.info/aero/PL2v8kgVeo4EbQD6l_WAVjOfItquzW7oEc&si=HrEm55lV164yKJqu Why does Angelina sing barefoot? The answer may bring a tear to your eye. It is related to a promise she made to herself and to the world when she was only 6 years old. She was traveling in the Middle East with her mom and grandmother and they came across a young orphan girl with no shoes and scarred feet. Angelina gave the girl her own favorite shoes. Angelina ask the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and she said a doctor, but she could not because she had to take care of her siblings. She asked Angelina the same question and Angelina said I want to sing for the world. The young girl said she would pray for Angelina. Since then, Angelia has forever performed barefoot as a reminder of all those less fortunate. At age 9 she wrote a book about this experience, Between two Hearts, becoming the youngest ever published author in Norway. She also has helped raise millions for children's charities. She even stated at 8 years old that she would be donating her winnings from Norway's Got Talent to charities. She is a special individual, and one you cannot follow without developing an emotional bond. Angelina captures hearts because she is humble and has compassion for humanity. She is a messenger of love, light, and hope, wrapped in a blanket of humbleness and humility. Her stated goal from childhood was to sing for the world and spread love and peace. I trust this will cause you to embrace her as millions of others have, and that you will continue down the rabbit hole from which you will not want to escape. Peace and love.

She was 7 when she auditioned for Norway's Got Talent, singing Billie Holiday's Gloomy Sunday. She had turned 8 by the time she won. She is 9 in this video, not 7, but that doesn't take anything away from this Masterpiece performance. She grew up listening to her grandma's classic jazz albums & is self taught because there are no musicians or singers in her family. She always picks the songs she likes & does her own arrangements to make them her own. She said her Mom tried to get her to sing Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star, but she refused & said she preferred jazz. BTW you are right she is a treasure. After she won NGT in 2014, the Monarchy of Norway & the Prime Minister designated Angelina a "National Treasure of Norway." Not kidding!!! Since you've seen her at 13 & 9, I recommend you see her now, at 18 singing her newest original song, Bad Valentine. It is not even officially released yet, but here is a live performance at a small venue in LA. kzbin.info/www/bejne/r4XNq5uGiLuaq8U

Because she gives everyone a mountain of music to start with, many reactors react to a few at a time. Like do all ages of a song to see her maturity. Or do orchestra songs where she’s in front of an orchestra or guitar only at home, etc themes seem to be a good way to go through her catalog. Imagine starting your career with a catalog already. There are several Best Of Compilations you should enjoy but only in the background, you’ll see she makes the day better.

I don't know if this was mentioned but the note Angelina was writing and the man was reading (the producer) represents her editorial control over the arrangement. She is truly a gifted musician. This was inspired by and is Angelina's interpretation of and testament to the original artist - Screamin' Jay Hawkins.

Great 'unpack' of precisely what she's doing here vocally and the incredible level of sophistication, already, as a child. As well as creating unique covers, Angelina is already composing and songwriting as well. ( Her Million Miles, which she wrote in tribute to her beloved Grandfather who passed away, is both skillful and very moving.) Agree; a HUGE Career ahead. 😍🤩👋

Thank you for featuring Angelina again. I hope you will do many more reactions to her, as she is well worth every nanosecond you spend on her. I have watched and listened to her in awe since she released her first video on KZbin, and what has been evident to me from the start is that she sings with total conviction, despite the fact that she is far too young to have experienced the events suggested in the lyrics of the song she has chosen to sing. But it is not only that, for strange as it may seem is the even more remarkable fact that she can convey the appropriate emotions within those lyrics to her listener. This is Angelina's tribute to Screamin' Jay Hawkins, who wrote and performed the song in 1956 (50 years before Angelina was born). She based her arrangement on his original performance, although she discarded all the theatrics and allowed her voice and body language to tell the story. The song has been covered by many singers over the years, but to my knowledge, Angelina is the only one who has sung in the same style as the original. There are many things I found particularly worthy of note in this video. Some I recognised immediately and those I missed were brought to my attention by the more observant Angelina fans (her Angels) and I thank them for letting me know what I had missed. Another Angelina "Angel" has pointed out something else which I had missed, and it is added at (l) below, (a) Angelina finishing writing last minute changes she wanted and handing them to the Music Director, who smiled. (b) A brief glimpse of Mery Zamani, Angelina's maternal grandmother, a well known and respected Iranian Artist and poet who was also a child prodigy. She was the person who recognised Angelina's talent at an early age and exposed her to all the old time jazz singers. (c) The candle with an image of Screamin' Jay Hawkins on it. (d) The smile on the face of the Bass player. (e) How she rose on to her toes on the last occasion she sang "...because you're mine" (f) The fact she occasionally refers to her written notes on the music stand. Possibly to remind herself of the last minute changes she wanted. (g) Her unwavering passion throughout the performance. Evidenced by her facial expressions and the way she uses her hands and body to emphasise the direction of the song. (h) The way she takes a breath just before she starts the last phrase (I don't care.....) and that breath lasts the whole of that sustained note. A child of that age should not have the ability to hold a note for that length of time. (i) At the end, when she sings I Doooont Caaaaare, she employs TWO separate and distinct vibratos to the word care, a wide one to start the word and a tighter one to close the word (j) The instant transformation from "performance" mode to that of a pensive child, possibly wondering whether she could have done better. I comment on the "pensive" child because Angelina has an incredible work ethic and seeks to perform every song in a way she considers will bring out all the emotions within the lyrics and melody. (k) Perhaps the most remarkable is that despite her tender years, she sings with such total conviction that her authenticity is never in doubt. It is easy to believe that she has experienced the events described in the lyrics. It is not only her voice that is mesmerising, it is also her facial expressions, and the way she uses her hands and body. Her stage presence is electrifying. (l) The performance absolutely is powerful and raw but to me, I am amazed that this is balanced by the profound beauty of the ending phrase; the last twelve words of the song. AND… they are essentially sung a cappella! Angelina has been referred to as the "Queen of Jazz", "The Barefoot Princess", "The girl with a thousand voices". All of them are true, but I prefer the nickname I gave her after listening to about six of her performances. For me, she is "The Chameleon of Song", for as a chameleon is able to change its colour to match its surroundings, so Angelina is able to change the "colour" of her voice to accurately match the needs of the song to reveal the emotions within the lyrics and melody. Even more remarkable is her innate ability to communicate those same emotions to her listeners.

I had followed AJ on her journey from being a young child.... but when AJ turned 10 and I heard her live cover of "Feeling Good" I knew then that she was my favorite female singer. By age 10 she was singing better than 3/4 of professional singers that have 50 years under their belts. By the time she was 12-13 she was as good as any of them. Now at 18 she can literally sing the pants off of all of them.... and she is not even off the age where she has her full range and depth!! But it's not only how she sings, it's her musical acuity and interpretation of the lyrics and the message of a song. She makes you hear lyrics like no one else and feel them in your guts.

Salamat from Canada ya Dounia 😁. I'm so happy you've come across our barefoot Princess and there's so much for you to cover from this little Jazz prodigy. I would highly suggest you go back and forth from her most recent covers and originals mixing in some stuff from her earlier years here and there. The reason I'm suggesting this is because her career is about to explode and the whole world is about to know her name & music & if you were to watch her video's chronologically then it might take you 2 years before you reached her present day music. You see now that she's 18 and finished high school her parents have allowed her to work with the label Republic Records full time and they're gearing up to release the labels 1st full LP with her. Angelina has been writing songs and working closely with Multi Grammy Award winning producer and song writer Toby Gad. OMG wait until you hear AJ and Toby latest song, they'll be releasing it in a couple of months, it's called "Bad Valentine". There's a sneak peek performance on YT that I know you'll hear soon enough 🤯. Toby is also releasing his own album consisting of some of his greatest hits over the years, it's called "The Piano Diaries". All of his greatest hits were sung by the biggest most famous artists, like John Legend "All Of Me" or Beyoncé "If I Were A Boy", but for his album Toby decided he wanted a new generation of the greatest up and coming future artists, singing these hits & he asked Angelina to re-imagen "If I Were A Boy" sing it for the album and make it her own. Knowing now how much you love and enjoy Jazz here are a few of my favorite Jazz Standards sung by Angelina that I'm positive will impress you. 1) Angelina at age 8, Norway's Got Talent Finally "Summertime" or Nancy Sinatra's "Bang Bang" 2) Angelina Jordan (12) - Fly Me To The Moon - Quincy Jones Birthday concert - big band rehearsal 3) Angelina Jordan (16) - My Funny Valentine - IGTV - Feb. 14, 2022 Cheers, and Thank You Robert Marar.❤✌

The stars and planets aligned when Angelina Jordan was born. The journey of an artist can indeed be profoundly affected by their socioeconomic background. Angelina Jordan's financial stability has arguably given her the freedom to explore and express her creativity without the immediate pressure of financial survival. The most profound individual in AJ’s life, according to her, is her grandmother, Mery Zamani, artist/poet extraordinaire who’s knowledge, wealth and genius have tutored AJ, and cultivated her unbelievable talent. This is a luxury not afforded to all artists, and the music industry is replete with stories of immensely talented individuals who have faced immense pressure to succeed financially. This pressure can sometimes lead to a tragic struggle with substance abuse, as seen in the cases of Whitney Houston and Amy Winehouse. Their legacies serve as a stark reminder of the potential consequences of the immense pressures of fame and success in the music industry. It's a complex tapestry where talent, personal circumstances, and external pressures interweave to shape an artist's career and personal life.

You mentioned Janis Joplin as a legend and she is, but we Angels are expecting Angelina Jordan to also be a legend. I voted for her win in NGT 2014 as i noticed her to be special. For me she is the reason i now love jazz as i heard many jazz songs from earlier age and i felt they lacked feeling in their music. With Angelina Jordan, she hits my soul/heart every time. No artist before have hit me like Angelina do. Her grandmother i guess discovered her singing abilities as there is a video when Angelina is trying to sing along "I will always love you" by Whitney Houston. She set the bar high early. She picks the songs and arranged this one too. Great reaction and much love from a Norwegian subscriber hoping to see more Angelina Jordan in your channel. Born Angelina Jordan Astar on January 10, 2006 in Oslo, Norway. Angelina started singing around 18 months of age, after listening to Whitney Houston on KZbin. She quickly became obsessed with listening to music videos and her maternal grandmother, Mery Zamani got Angelina interested in classic jazz. Mery Zamani is Iranian and was a prodigy as an artist and poet while growing up in Iran. Angelina attended the Oslo Waldorf School and participated in the Oslo School of Music and Performing Arts after-school program, where starting around age 4, she had training in music but no vocal training. Her teachers were smart enough to not attempt to change what she was doing vocally. Angelina, at age 6 and 7, did record a few songs in a recording studio at her school, most notably “I Who Have Nothing”, a truly remarkable performance for a 7 year old. At age 7, Angelina’s audition on Norway’s Got Talent, was a cover of Billie Holiday’s “Gloomy Sunday”, a song which was banned by a number of European countries during World War II because authorities worried the song would increase the suicide rate. Truly bizarre that this is the song to launch the career of a child musical prodigy. One of the judges on NGT cried. Musicians working with Angelina would call her the boss since she knew exactly how she wanted to sing the song and would confidently instruct the musicians. While one could say Angelina was mimicking other artists, there is no doubt she had her own style and created her own arrangements, even at this early age. Angelina was near her 8th birthday for her next performance on NGT, covering Billie Holiday’s “I’m a Fool to Want You” singing acapella which was required by NGT unless the singer also played an instrument while singing. This was the Judge’s cut round of the competition to trim the number of vocalists who passed their audition, and was not performed in front of an audience. In the Semi Final round of NGT, Angelina sang “Bang Bang.” In the Finals, Angelina did a cover of George Gershwin’s, “Summertime” and won the contest, capturing 46% of the votes from the ten finalists. When asked what she would like to do with the prize money she won (500,000 kroner or about $80,000), Angelina replied, “I want to give it to the poor children”. The money was placed in a trust and available when Angelina turns 18. Record company executives flew their private jets to Norway to attempt to sign 8 year old Angelina but all were thankfully rebuked. Disney also made an offer but not accepted. In December 2014, Angelina realized a life-long desire to sing at the Save the Children's Peace Prize Celebration which is part of the Noble Peace Prize celebration. She would sing at the Nobel Peace Prize concert in December 2023, at age 17, with a heartfelt rendition of "Unchained Melody".

Angelina Jordan's rendition of "I Put A Spell On You" at the tender age of 9 showcases not only her remarkable vocal talent but also her early inclination towards musical arrangement. Even at such a young age, Jordan displayed a deep understanding of the music, giving specific instructions to the band leader on how she envisioned the performance. This level of artistry and involvement in the creative process has been a consistent trait throughout her career, setting her apart as a musician with a unique and mature approach to her craft. Her performances, available for viewing on various platforms, continue to captivate audiences with her soulful interpretations and the maturity beyond her years. Angelina Jordan's commitment to her art form from the beginning of her career is a testament to her genius, passion and dedication to music.

Actually she was 18 months when her mother filmed her sing Whitney Houston. But I think Angelina discovered herself. I think she was 3 years old when she asked her mother if she could join "that Simon show", as in Simon Cowells talent show. She said in the opening before she sang Bohemian Rhapsody at AGT that she had been waiting 10 years to sing for Simon. She was 7 when her mother allowed her to join Norways Got Talent, wich she won. Please react to more Angelina Jordan music. Thanks for this one. 😊🔥🎶🌟

Hey Dounia, enjoyed your reaction very much! Watching from Toronto. I've been following AJ for about 4 years now and I have to say it never gets boring, watching either her or reactions to her music, like yours.Watching her progression through life has been very satisfying, and many of the Angels think of her as a surrogate daughter or grand-daughter. If I may, I'd recommend watching her Norway's got Talent run. I think the growth that AJ exhibits in this small bit of time from years 7 to 8 is just phenomenal. And that leads up to this video, I Put A Spell on You, at the age of 9. Enjoy! سلام تحية

Thanks for the wonderful and amazed reaction, Dounia. This song is one of the important steps to understand the singularity of Angelina's talent and also a great musical masterpiece. It's unreal like her, from a very young person, she choice to use her incredible passion and understanding for music in a splendid way, especially with these legendary songs. She is definitely the only 9-year-old girl who understands and has the courage and the ability to sing this song from Screaming' Jay, so imbued with his power, and reorganize it according to her musical sensibility and vision. I sincerely believe that this it's the most beautiful version of this song, over 60 years since it was written and there are much of versions of it, also interpreted by great singers. 💛🧡❤

Great, thanks! Angelina is self discovered. As others have said she began singing quite young and when she discovered NGT at age 5 she asked to audition - but you have to be 7 to get in! So at 7 she began her journey on NGT and won at age 8. Simon became aware of her at that time, along with Disney and others, but her family protected her from the industry for many years. When she signed with Republic Records at age 14 she and her uncle/manager arranged a very favorable contract and now also has a studio built for her by RR!

There is considerable discussion of whether Angelina was 9 or 10 or 43 here. She was 7 and 8 in Norway's got talent, and there is a video of her at 6 or 7 singing I who Have Nothing, a Tom Jones or Shirley Bassey song. I've heard that the woman who intruduced her to jazz was Iranian artist and pop culture figure (I think) in exile, Mery Zemani, who also happens to be her maternal Grand Mother,

Angelina Jordan is a self-taught music prodigy she started singing at the age of 1.5 years and more than that she started with Billy Holiday Jazz. Angelina sings in 5 languages, designs her clothes, and becomes the youngest author of a book in Norway that explains why she sings with no shoes, like her name, she truly is an angel with a heart of gold. Angelina won Norway's Got Talent when she was 7 years old (these are her words but she started at 7 years old and won at 8 years old) Her younger years before age 13 she was watched over by her mother and her Uncle who is also Angelina's manager who just wanted her to grow up normal. Her mother and uncle Turned down almost 90% of all requests for her to perform but even so from age 7years to 12 years old or so, she has been all over the world (Mother never more than a breath away) most of this was in support of children needs funding. Angelina has produced over 180 covers, and she makes all of them her own, all of which will astound you. New people to Angelina get sucked down this rabbit hole of not believing what they're hearing her excellent vocals and unique way of singing, Angelina is a master at music structure her ability to show absolute recognition to a cover while she makes it her own. Angelina writes her music and produces it. Angelina's mother is Norwegian, and her father is from Sweeden The grandmother on her mother's side is from Iran (a prodigy in her own right) and her grandfather (recently deceased) is from Japan both grandparents are very involved with Angelina growing up, Angelina's original song a million miles is about losing her grandfather. Angelina is now 17 and lives in LA and just starting her commercial career with a tour of Norway and a new album for the fall of 23. I'm sure she will dominate the world market.

Wonderful reaction - again. Wonderful done Dounia. Thank you, - for your great analyses, and your obvious joy and admiration for this jazzy princess. 👣Who discovered her? Obvious her family saw the talent in baby Angelina, but as Angelina herself stated very early; - MUSIC found her. Now, I think you should go and watch Angelina as she was actually stil only 7, as she did her audition for "Norvergian Talents". She went straight to the source, and covered Billie Holiday`s version of "Gloomy Sunday" - a MUST SEE for any reactor to Angelina👣 🤗

She was 9 in this video and had already won Norway's Got Talent. She had entered Norway's Got Talent at 7 so perhaps that is where the mix up came from. I don't believe she could have done this at 7. And I don't believe she could have done this at 9 BUT I JUST LISTENED TO IT! In the beginning of the video you saw the director handed a piece of paper. It contained changes Angelina wanted the band to make. The members of the band affectionately gave her the nickname, "the boss". And they said she knew exactly what she was doing and they said it was a pleasure to work with her. Dounia, when you play it again for yourself, please watch it to the very end. You will see her raise her right arm up and put it on a ledge and the look on her face is telling us, "Could I have done this any better?" only Angelina...

You have a lot to learn about Angelina: Little if any vocal training, her Iranian grandmother (mormor in Norwegian) started her interest in old jazz / R&B singers like Billie Holiday and Etta James. She DID attend an Oslo musical school where she learned to play some instruments and music theory, but Angelina is basically self-made. A musical prodigy. The more you learn about Angelina, you will realize that her empathy and humanity is off the scale (e.g. why she always performs barefoot). Her family and her upbringing in a solid and safe environment will also have played a part in making her the person she is today.

You've listened to two of Angelina's videos. One more and you'll be hopelessly and happily addicted to her voice. If you really want to see how thoroughly she understands jazz, you should go back to when she was 7 years old (she's actually 9 in this one) on Norway's Got Talent singing "Summertime" and a couple of Billie Holiday classics. Perfect rhythm, perfect inflections. And one of them is acapella! And when you listen to her later stuff (even "Bohemian Rhapsody") you can hear the jazz influences in her delivery. This kid probably cried in jazz when she was born! Your reactions are fun to watch, especially for us that have followed Angelina for the last 10 years. You get over being shocked, but you never stop being amazed.

Yeah, this band here gave here a loving nickname. "The boss". The funny thing, nobody really discovered her. At age 3 that lil munchkin watched AGT and decided she wanted to sing for Simon Cowell. She began obsessively following that target, listening, imitating and dissecting music. So she's mostly self taught. Four years later she auditioned at Norways got Talent at age 7.

To be a little hyperbolic: Angelina discovered herself. Her family realized that she could sing at 18 months and her grandmother was probably encouraging her, but as her family and those that know her describe it: Angelina was always the driving-force of her own developement. Her parents focused on protecting her and applying some breaks when they felt it was needed, but they realized and accepted that she could not be contained.

Love your take on Angelina. Keep in mind she sings any genre which is cool because there is always a certain measure of Jazz bleeding into it in some way. If you want to get some personal insight into Angelina I suggest the video "Ten Years in the Making" done during her Las Vegas concert. You get a glimpse into who she is. kzbin.info/www/bejne/f5CYaoOQjdCoqcU Some of the below is directed to first listeners but most is general and if you read it then watch the above video you will understand why I wrote it. Thanks for being you. Angelina is a child prodigy and a musical genius. From song writing to arranging/composing/production choices (she has arranged everything she has sung including for the Kork orchestra for her spectacular performance of "Unchained Melody" at the Nobel Peace Prize presentation). Her choices are unique with seemingly an endless color palette to chose from, a depth of tone that is unmatched with fullness and body even in her gorgeous lower register, and the ability in storytelling and emotive connection she makes with the listener. She draws you into the song and makes it a very personnel experience, a place she calls her special place that is full of love. I am not sure I can properly describe it but for those moments--time stops, your stresses and troubles disappear and you become completely immersed in the warmth that is her world of sound. I will let others give her history and why she performs with bare feet and her philanthropy as she is just as unique as an individual as she is as an artist. Her goal is to bring her music and love to the world. She calls her fans her Angels and when she tells them she loves them it comes from deep within her. She shows wisdom way beyond her years that shows in her interviews and her lyrics. She makes that special connection, especially in live performances, (the best live vocalist I have ever heard), as I noticed and heard from others in her Las Vegas concert you could see her scanning the crowd on occasion--fans said she was making direct eye contact with them while singing--she used floor monitors instead of in ear and there is no doubt the reason for this is she wanted to hear her fans. At times you could see her react to them while singing. Whether it was a hint of a smile in the middle of a belt on "One Moment in Time" or after the first line in "When We Were Young" when the fans reacted and she smiled that warm inviting smile and opened her eyes to scan the crowd before the next line began. I have never seen anyone bring out so much creativity in so many people in my life. From painting to creating video's and much more. Her music is also healing and I think this is because of who she is and the energy behind the music as much as just the music. If you take this journey, which I would recommend, you will get to experience and see for yourself what I am trying to explain. There will be other prodigies, other great musicians---but I am pretty certain that there will never ever be another Angelina Jordan.

I found Angelina about 6 years ago. With a few exceptions, I have listened to her everyday since then. Her voice, her span of genres, her arranging skills are all amazing. Her timing on any genre is immaculate. She is a natural jazz and blues singer, but she can sing anything. Pick any title you like, any age, any genre. If you like bluesy jazz, watch her latest: she’s 18 now, and her original song, Bad Valentine, sung live at at small jazz club, is a vocal surprise and just a joy to watch and hear. Angelina's musical instincts are at genius level. Her arrangements and vocal choices are meant to tell the story of the song and evoke the proper emotions. Angelina has told us she has written over 100 songs, by age 18, and we have heard 14 to date. Here is the list. "What is Life" first sung at age 11. We don't know how old she was when she wrote each song. Age presented is her age when she first sang it. "Oslo" age 11 "Shield" age 12 "Million Miles" age 14 we know she wrote this one in the days after her maternal grandfather passed in 2019 when she was 13 "7th Heaven" age 15 "Love Don't Let Me Go" age 17 "Now I'm the Fool" age 17 "Fire and Rain" age 17 "It's All My Fault" age 17 "Good in Goodbyes" age 17 "Diamond" age 17 "Our Time" age 17 "Princess of Ruins" age 18 ..... only performed at her 2 shows in Las Vegas 2/29/24 "Bad Valentine" age 18 worked with Toby Gad Should include songs for which she was the first to sing "I'm Still Holding Out for You" age 10 .... considered one of her best vocal performances by many "Song for A" age 12 "Above the Water" a EDM song released January 31, 2020 "We're the Best" sung with RedOne at the FIFA Awards February 27, 2023 Angelina wrote new lyrics for two famous songs by Amy Winehouse, "Back to Black" and "Rehab" since it was inappropriate for a preteen to sing the original lyrics. For "Back to Black" Angelina wrote the new lyrics in the 24 hours prior to the recording, then needed just two takes.

🎉 If you're wondering how she was discovered, here's where she was discovered by the world. She had been pressuring her parents to allow her to compete. After Norway proclaimed Angelina as a national treasure, her parents insisted insisted she enjoy her childhood as much as possible. When she graduated highschool, early as a young 17 yr-old, she released her debut LP. The title was predictably, OLD ENOUGH. 🎉🎉🎉 NORWAY'S GOT TALENT I've attached the link to the audition she made on Norway's Got Talent at the age of 7. Self-taught and learning from the jazz masters, little barefooted Angelina sings a Billie Holiday cover of "Gloomy Sunday." This video includes pre and post-content, all with English subtitles. NGT 1 - GLOOMY SUNDAY - Billie Holiday (spotlights Angelina, her audition, with English subtitles) kzbin.info/www/bejne/mmTKhJulbt6Zbposi=zs2FQv-c0Lu5NtGc NGT 2 - I'M A FOOL TO WANT YOU - Billie Holiday kzbin.info/www/bejne/bH2slISCasx_pbs NGT 3 - BANG, BANG - Nancy Sinatra kzbin.info/www/bejne/aXWTlmOjnrKGf5I NGT 4 - SUMMERTIME, Ella Fitzgerald/Louis Armstrong (spotlights Angelina, final performance, judges, announcing NGT winner, all with English CC) kzbin.info/www/bejne/sH-XnHSlm5acqZI ... if you want to see the earliest performance we have access to, here she is at 6 years old, singing I WHO HAVE NOTHING, covering Ben. What's so amazing is she is consistently amazing each year. Have you heard of the American young lady, Jennifer Grout, who went to sing and play oud on 'Arab's Got Talent' seven years ago, or so? She was also stunning, knowing how to sing 'Um Khalthoum' though she, Jennifer, didn't know how to speak any Arabic, including "What is your name?", when asked that on the show. Didn't win but gave multiple stunning performances. I think she married a Morrocan and lives and performs there now.

Angelina was blessed with a musical "gift" and a family that lives love and has respect for her gift. In 2018 (12 years old) they moved from Oslo to Los Angeles, California, USA to let her follow her dream of being a "Superstar". Angelina is blessed with having a worldly family. Her mother is Norwegian. Her father is Swedish. Her mother's mother, Mery Astar, is Iranian. Her mother's father was Japanese. "Million Miles" A great insight into Angelina and her family is this interview on "Wrapped in a Warm Blanket" podcast/KZbin ((kzbin.info/www/bejne/h36od4Sdnd2YeKcsi=NGYmmhqD6j2-iUfB). “She Changes MY Life”. A barefoot princess with a hypnotic voice. She was only 9 years old when she performed this song. It is her tribute to Screamin' Jay Hawkins, an American singer/songwriter. He wrote and performed it in 1956 and Angelina based her performance on the original, although she did make some subtle alterations to both lyrics and melody. As you continue your journey of discovering Angelina, you will come to realise that she does her own arrangements of most of the cover songs she sings. The differences may not be immediately discernible on first listening to them, but they are there. There may be a subtle change in tempo or tone, or more inflexion on some words, or a phrase may differ in pitch from the original. The amount of control that Angelina has over her voice cannot be measured. She never hurries a song. She sings in such a way that the emotions in the lyrics are felt by the listener. In this video did you notice:Angelina finishing some notes and handing them to the pianist, who smiled as he read them? They were her wishes (instructions) to the band how she wished therm to play the music. In the band, she was called a boss.
