In my experience, when you go to these sales, the people that are selling these things really appreciate you respecting their property. Digging through the boxes so roughly and shoving that bag of cards down so you could close the lid says to the person selling them that you don't respect their property. Which leads them to thinking you alsodo not respect them. It's how I'd feel. They might also think that any deal you offer is going to be lowball and only fair for you. My rule of thumb when I was at shows or sales was to treat cards like they were my grandma's most cherished posession. Even if they're just tossed in a box. Especially cards because edges fray amd bend way too easily.

Unless he said he’s having PSA authenticate it, JSA is the one to use for memorabilia if you’re doing it for value/selling (Edit): not that PSA is bad or anything by any means. Either or is highly trusted. Just my experience in dealing with signed memorabilia and preference of buyers

This is why I don’t even fool with these kind of sales. Or go into a deal with friends of the family. Lot of folks think they have all this valuable stuff. When in reality it’s all worthless and no reasoning will get them to understand. And worse, some genuinely believe you’re trying to rip them off. I’m just not dealing with that.

Hate when I see people selling cards just thrown in a box, or put in plastic ziplock bags or with rubber bands around them!! They destroy the cards and their value!! But you may find some good cards. And they’re always looking at asking prices when they price them, not solds or maybe not even the same variations!

A fair price? If she’s willing to sell it for $50 that’s her decision. But the cards in the container alone are worth more than that. How many cards do you think are in there? Most of those can sell for a couple or a few bucks, with others likely being worth more. Maybe she’s trying to clear out some space, maybe she doesn’t feel like going through the hassle of trying to sell them individually over time. Plus the possibilities of a hidden gem being in there. Circumstances are a thing in this life stranger. A lot of people are very judgmental over nonsensical stuff like the shape or design of someone’s home. Who cares? You don’t even know these people yet you feel like you can judge them. Hope you’re never on the other end of things in this world because rest assured, there will be plenty of people around to wrongfully judge you.
