He was desperate for vengeance against all who had caused the Gu city massacre and knew that by doing this he would implicate Shaoshang’s entire family so kept her in the dark. He would do anything to keep her and those she loved safe but the trouble is that he had made her trust him implicitly with everything in her life but then didn’t return the favour to her. It left her feeling betrayed and abandoned so she called everything off. It’s not out of spite but coming from a place of pain and anguish. It made her feel that somehow she wasn’t trustworthy enough.

What was there to talk about? He made casual decisions about her life, and treated her with the same disregard like her mother. Every action has consequences, she is now broken because of his actions. I would want to be away from them both, I don't see it as self-isolation, she went with who loved and cared for her.
