No, her fear of abandonment was too big not her ego! Ling Buyi was the first person ever, to make her feel safe and loved and then he too abandoned her. Even worse, he put her and her whole family in danger, when he killed his "father and his family". I understand why she couldn't trust or love him again. This is the normal reaction to being lied to and betrayed because let's face it, this is exactly what he did to her. He would have died at the bottom of that cliff, if she hadn't spoken up for him to the Emperor! So this shows it wasn't her ego but her fear of being abandoned again, which stopped her giving him another chance.🤷‍♀️
