I have a rescue dog from Ensenada and my dog got Distemper passed to her as a puppy through her mom. The entire litter got distemper and the rescue took all of them to a vet in Texas for treatment. A few puppies passed away but most survived as did the mama dog. My distemper survivor is 9 years old now and doing great. We dont know much about distemper survival so I still have to watch her for any signs of nurological issues. I am so sorry this poor street dog had to endure this horrible disease.

God bless you and your family for having such a big caring heart. It is a shame and heartbreaking the amount of stray dogs in Mexico. My husband is from chihuahua and we just got back from visiting. And every time we go it seems the problem is worse. The sad part is how heartless humans can be by not feeding them their scraps at least. I know in the ranch where he lives the ones that do have dogs, feed them whatever was left from the days meals. Which is usually hard corn tortillas. And the dogs are covered in ticks. I see the cars rarely stop for these animals when they cross the street in front of cars. But these dogs have a lot of street smart, somehow they no better for the most part.

As someone who lives on US/Mexico border (El Paso, TX / Ciudad Juarez, Mexico) I can tell you she is definitely telling the truth. There are so many street dogs in Juarez and all over Mexico. One of our rescue dogs prior to our adopting her was brought from Ciudad Juarez to El Paso through a nonprofit animal rescue. Anything we can do to aid this horrible situation throughout Mexico we need to do. You are all in my prayers these days and I hope you are able to find peace during your visit to Michigan.
