I feel for you about Riley's nap/rest time. When my son was 2 1/2, he definitely quit napping. I was distressed, because my baby still napped, and I wanted the mom's quiet time. By age 3, I decided to let him skip naps, and played games, practiced alphabet etc. like you. I made it clear that nap skipping mean quiet time on the couch reading etc. It also meant to bed 15 minutes earlier, although I didn't mention that. Then my one year old got full attention with books, blocks, cuddles etc. Separate and individual time with each child was wonderful. It was also something I'd never considered before. That way I could give the little one special attention that wasn't possible any other time of day. 😊

My oldest is a few months younger than Riley, and we do "quiet time" during her little sister's nap time. She can play with whatever she wants in her room, but she has to stay quietly in her room until little sis is awake. Giving her a "snack plate" (a divided plate with 3 different types of snacks) has been a game changer for getting her to stay occupied. Toy rotation also helps a lot so she doesn't get bored with the toys in her room. Occasionally we have to break out the iPad, but you do what you gotta do lol.

All of the emotions that your feeling about all the big changes with Riley remember that she is feeling them too, but she doesn’t know how to express them properly. Her way of expressing her emotions about growing up may be with acting out, being emotional and expressing that she is sad. Remember she is little and still learning. I’m not sure how long your putting her in her room for quiet time, but maybe start with 5 mins and work your way up from there. Good luck Kayla!

Been watching your videos a lot as of late. I am currently 11 week pregnant with my second baby. I have a daughter named Ace that will be 3 in April. I think its so funny because I am from Northern Virginia and I hated it for 24 years of my life. I am not a cold weather person at all and I moved to Florida and am in total love with it. I hope you enjoy VA its a great place to raise a family for sure. I'm not sure of where you are exactly in VA but try looking up downtown historic fredericksburg virginia. My favorite local restaurant is Mason dixon Cafe. They also have one in Stafford VA. You can look them up on Instagram to see the stuff they make. Again enjoy the cold. Also I completely understand terrible things happen to your kids and its completely out of your control... sadly my family cane down for the holidays and they're doberman ended up bitting my daughter in the face ...... no fun long story. Sorry for the random lomg comment. I have been watching you since I was pregnant with Ace.
