A complacent, easy-going laity encourages priests and nuns to default in their religious duties, especially catechesis. Cradle Catholics usually take the faith for granted. They think that the catechism for their First Holy Communion is quite sufficient to see them through an entire lifetime! As a result they are woefully out of touch with the actual glory that is Roman Catholicism... the One True Church established by Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Himself! I once heard Sister Breige say on EWTN she told a Protestant woman in Europe who wanted to be a Catholic to remain in the religion she happened to be in and be a good person in that tradition. It is now 2020 as I type this. Here in my Country, as with so,so many other Countries around this world, Brothers Priests, Bishops, Archbishops have been exposed. In some cases held accountable, far too many, not so. How do I as a Catholic, go on believing that these men (sadly some Nuns), are ordained by God. To live as Our Lord Jesus Christ. Sir Éstragon It would be if it was complied with. But instead it is ran by a mixture of good and bad men. The good priests save our souls through their extension of the mercy of Christ. The bad priests sully the church and corrupt it with pedofilia, theft, abuse of power, and even murder. So it can not be said that it is perfect. And perhaps Jesus anticipated this, for his message is to fight against temptation, whilst retaining mercy and forgiveness in our hearts. It is most difficult to forgive the priests who have behaved in such ways. But they can be held accountable under the law here on earth, and they will be judged by God on judgement day. We must trust in God and the word of Jesus always.
