Something that is important to note, Ferdinand at this point has no idea what Myne is actually doing in her workshop in the orphanage because he never visited it. And why should he ? She talks with him about her ideas and some of the random thoughts she has in her head, but in the end she is just a weird powerless little girl that is hard to take seriously with how emotional and clueless about the world she is... At least until she showed him the book she made. It's the moment where Ferdinand understood what a massive mistake he made so far and that she is much more troublesome and actually dangerous than he thought she would be.

@@geraldgrenier8132 Exactly, which is why he realized that he made a mistake not going himself when fran gave these half assed reports and he filled the missing information with his own assumptions (which is something he absolutely hates when myne is doing it). I mean we are talking about ferdinand, a perfectionist and schemer that always wants to stay on top of things. In this case ? He didn't. In his mind it wasn't necessary because he simply did not take her seriously enough. Even with the argument that ferdinand cares a lot about appearances and it would be weird for him to visit the orphanage himself, there is no reason why he couldn't send someone else there to give him another viewpoint on things.

Myne went into a lot more detail about what a bloody carnival entails in the light novels. It 8ncluded putting Egmont's head on a pike and parading it around town in order to "restore morale to her allies". Books are serious business....

Myne is allowed to see her family over winter, she just has to stay in the temple with her family and Lutz coming by if the weather allows it. Basically she isn't allowed to skip the dedication ritual because of bad weather, it's the whole reason she was allowed to join the temple as a blue robe to begin with.

17:30 - what you're talking about here is why Bookworm is the best isekai. Where the main plot conflict literally comes from the nature of the isekai concept. Implementation of her knowledge is threatening the class structure and undermining status by birthright.

On top of being a commoner, the devouring is a threat to the class structure as nobles are define by those that can use magic

@@geraldgrenier8132 The devouring isn't a threat to the nobles. Any commoner born with a significant amount of mana die before it's even known that they have the devouring. Even Myne died when she was 5 and she didn't actually start with that much mana. The only reason she has so much now is because Urano took over and was able to compress her mana to a ridiculous degree.

@panther1313 the threat is if commoners can wield magic (if taught) it errodes the "natural authority" of nobles. Which raises the discontent of commoners meaning nobles have spend a lot more time maintaining g control. The fact that such an uprising is impractical doesn't mean it doesn't cause nobles problems

@@geraldgrenier8132 not really. Having mana and wielding magic are two different things and the only people who could teach it are the nobles themselves. And reading books without a teacher can only bring you so far. Also, the "natural authority" of the nobles comes from the fact that their magic is literally sustaining the lives of the common people. Without them there would be no significant crop yield and monsters would run rampage (among other things). So even if a commoner uprising would be possible (which is not the case), it would essentially be them cutting of their own lifeline. What Ferdinand means be "turn society on its head" is less a rebellion scenario and more a change in values between nobles and commoners which could bring chaos in terms of economy and culture.

@Tyarrk part of myne point to Fernand when he asks her about the impact of printing was Nobles aren't explaining to the guild commoners in the cities that nobles are supply the land with Mana. City folk only enter the temple 3 times in their life and that not a topic at any of the ceremonies. Myne never heard of the Harvest festival and spring prayer before this episode.

It is only the books on magic, that Ferdinand (the head priest) kept in his secret room. All the others he did put into the book room, which previously had solely bibles, alongside documents. Speaking of which, the anime really upped the book count in the book room. There should be only very few actual books, with lots of wooden boards and scrolls containing all kinds of old reports, budgets, ect. In the novel the culprint didn't dare touch the incredibly valuable books by the way and only scattered the board and scrolls all over the room. This was likely because if any of the books were damaged, Ferdinand would investigate and if he did, he's practically guaranteed to find out who did it... and then the culprint would have to spend the exhorbitant amount of money, the repairs cost. With the earnings of a low in mana blue priest, chances are he wouldn't be able to clear that debt within his lifetime. Technically there was a boy in the family already. Not counting the miscarriage Effa had, this child is going to be their fourth, but Tuuli and Myne's older brother died, before he reached his first birth season. The only time this boy was mentioned in the books was when Effa gossiped with the other wives at the well and thus I don't know if the two girls even know about their deceased brother.

If you can't rile up a little girl with known weaknesses without damaging your own property, or worse yet that of your organization, your incompetence should disqualify you from any position of authority. He should be punished. Officially, for damaging the library. Unofficially, for being a cheap villain.

@JeromeBellon actually the LN very careful point none of the contents the reading room weren't damage, just disorganized. As Myne was officially assigned to maintain the reading room as part of her negotiations. So, if she fails to reestablish order, she can be blamed. And nobles typically orgize by publication/donation date, which would be difficult for her to re-establish.

The main goal of this whole affair was to lock Main down in the church, so she wouldn't even try to get any of the assignments for harvest ceremonies, which are the single biggest source of income for blue robes.

@@gerardmanvussa501 Right, because of some drama in the nobility causing the exodus of blue robes from the Church, meaning the ones left aren't all that magical. Some nuances are still unclear but I'd rather find out when I read the novels :) Haven't gotten far because I was reading them in French and they were releasing slowly. I've sadly just learned as I'm writing this that the company that's editing the books in French went bankrupt last month. I can totally read them in English, but it's still quite a shame, especially knowing they were about to release another tome which had been fully translated. Well, on the bright side I guess I can buy all the books in English for cheaper and without waiting.

Brother Egmont isn't a " former noble ", he's not a noble at all, and that's true for every single blue priest ( and Evil Santa as well, by the way ) at the time except for Ferdinand ;). None of them were baptized as nobles, in fact, none of them where baptized at all, they're technically from noble families, but that's all, socially speaking they aren't even that.
