2:25 mark - yes, Dr. Owens is a father. The scene when the Army dudes shows up to his house & starts taking stuff, his wife mentions that a box the soldier grabbed had her son's old school projects & other sentimental items. She questions as to why the government would need that in their search for Eleven. Side note - I think you are the first reactor to this show who immediately understood Dr. Owens' position when he brought El to the secret lab but didn't mention Dr. Brenner. Everyone else automatically gets pissed off & thinks that Dr. Owens betrayed her without looking at the grand scope of the situation. If he had told her that Dr. Brenner was going to be part of the process, she would not have agreed to work with them. He knew what a shit Dr. Brenner was but he also has to consider the fate of humankind if Eleven doesn't get her powers back to stop the evil in Hawkins from spreading to the rest of the world. Bravo on being so insightful & open minded, not only about Dr. Owens but Lucas as well. I've seen so many reactors believe that he has abandoned his childhood buddies just to be part of the popular teens' group when in reality he was acting as a "super spy" to learn what Jason's was planning to do. Once he saw, he led them away & rejoined his real friends...

55:42 I think it's a good idea to remember that these kids (besides One) are like this because of Brenner. This was basically a breeding program to get gifted kids and the only appreciation or warmth they've experienced is basically from when they please "Papa", and he's teaching them very toxic things, pitting them against each other etc. Even Two is still a kid, yes he can make his own choices here but based on the life he's most likely lived, what other decision does he even know how to make?

I get jason thinking Eddie was involved, cause he believes he’s working for the devil and all. But he told the cops Eddie wasn’t even touching Patrick, yet the police still named him as the person responsible to the public. How ridiculous and irresponsible imo.
@vijayanand6650
@vijayanand6650 12 күн бұрын
Yeah the cops here are completely incompetent even outside of the supernatural stuff. They can’t act objectively or prevent a public panic. They should not have implied to Jason that Eddie was responsible. And when he did come to that conclusion they didn’t do shit.

9:18 - well done on figuring out immediately that Eleven is revisiting a memory! 👏👏👏 Every KZbinr that I've seen so far automatically assumes that she is somehow back at Hawkins Lab which we all know (from season 3) that it was shut down & abandoned. Yes, it's a shame that they did shave her hair off again, but they needed to do that while she is inside the sensory deprivation tank (aka NINA).

I don't think they've directly mentioned anything about Doctor Owens having kids so far, but earlier in the season when the soldiers are going through his house, his wife says something like "these are X's school projects" (can't remember the name) when they take one of the boxes. So I imagine at least they have one kid who's probably old now

Suzie's house is a little wild, but I used to teach in a very Mormon area of the US and collectively they were very into the arts. Music, acting, and dancing were very common pursuits of my students. Short form social media changed things a lot, but there was an era of KZbin where you couldn't throw a rock and not hit a few family singing groups from Utah. The US version of Dancing with the Stars has about a half dozen Mormon dance pros. Ryan Gosling, Amy Adams, That blonde chick that drove everyone nuts in the the early seasons of Grey's Anatomy...Mormons like the arts.

I just want to clear something up, though my family told me that Young 11 was played by a boy, but upon looking it up she was actually played by young female girl named Martie Marie Blair and they used a little bit of CGI to make her look more like 11. Sorry for the confusion in the comment you read.

I will say it again: Nancy, Steve, and Jonathan all have two hands! Which is my usual response to any love triangle type situation, but this time in particular actually legit for real in canon I really truly believe that would be the best outcome. I think that any two of them (Steve x Nancy, Jonathan x Nancy, Steve x Jonathan) are good together, but their dynamics lack something that the third person rounds out. I kind of doubt that show as popular as this will go that route, but I hold out hope. And no matter what happens in the end, their triad will always be canon in my heart 😭♥♥

8:59 - Oh god yes. At that age I wasn't able to grow out my hair as long as I really wanted it. It wasn't until after I finally finished school I could really be myself and let it grow. Hell as a grown adult I sometimes have nightmares about being back in school and being forced to have my hair cut down as much as Eleven. It's not something everyone thinks of but our hair is a big part of being able to express ourselves and it can be terrible to lose the ability to keep it as we like it. And that's just this aspect, not to mention the fact it really is in this horrific sort of circumstance.

Rest in Peace, Patrick. After having to grieve that his love is gone, poor Jason also loses his best friend. (It is indicated that of all of the team he has a stronger bond to Patrick.) And not just losing him, he literally witnesses his best friend's murder in front of him. That's so f*ed up and f*ing traumatizing. And how it happens is horrifying, having to see that, and so inexplicably out of this world, which both just puts his brain out of mind. He tries rationalize it but trauma has him completely out of sense. Like, people are saying he should have recognized that Eddie did not do that and therefore stop the hunt and focus on Eddie, but that would be too rational, too soberly clear down-to.earth thinking. It's also not that he saw Who did it instead, Vecna's not visible, he hasnt the proof it was someone else. He can't say: oh obviously it was an invisible supernatural creature. He's clinging on Eddie, distorting his explanation to fit as a last thread of connecting what happened, what he saw to someone human because the alternative would be going insane.

You are really good at following the character-development of these characters for watching the first time without any additional info. For example, I am always a bit sad that the scene between Will and Mike is missed by so many other reactions because I think it is really important for understanding Wills development. His character development is done more in the background in S3 and S4 (like it would probably happen for an introvert), but over time that is one of the reasons I like it so much I think. It fits with his character and him being an introvert

First of all, I ADORE Jamie Bower and his acting here. From Sweeney Todd to Harry Potter to here, I just always loved seeing his face and hearing him. Fun fact, he still makes music, go check out his song "Devil In Me" or "I Am" if you like sort of what I like to call, religious trauma music, lol! I loved seeing him here so much, what a great actor. Seeing Max start doubting their plans especially after her encounter with Vecna is so scary real. Like you can't just be so okay with how things are going. You can't trust something will save you when you got so close to the danger, face to face. I feel so bad for Eddie. Joseph Quinn makes him so likeable and you just care and feel awful that he has to be a victim to this just because he is different. Eddie will always be my number one character out of the whole show. He is the best imo. I love his brotherly relationship with Dustin. Hopper's backstory is heart wrenching. He just keeps loosing the ones he loves and he is always blaming himself for it. He deserves to give himself some compassion. Something I absolutely enjoy so much about these reactions is how he understands the details. He sees them and comments on them and it is so nice. I don't know if he has some degree in filming or just has a big interest in it, but he picks up on the small things. I wouldn't have known how much this season was about depression out of Max's story and I rewatched it about 3 times.

st saturday yay ugh i love the curse monologue, it was first referenced by Hopper in episode 2 of season 1. Hopper's character is just so good imo, he's so human. Flawed, makes plenty of mistakes during the series but still very charismatic and likeable. Also i find it really hard to watch El's parts this season, it hurts seeing her suffer again and again, all while thinking she's a monster. Can't wait for episode 7, one of my favorites of this season.

57:04 Fun fact! The DufferBrothers actually planned to have Steve be seen as the swim captain in season 1 so Joe Keery spent months training for his role as Steve by getting a swimming coach! Only to then show up and be told they cut that part of his character. But his commitment to the role probably went a long way with the writers and their incentive to keep Steve around. Regardless I think it's really cool they brought that old detail back and made it actually canon in the show😊

I don't see anybody mentioning it but "Watergate" (the joke that Dustin made tht no one laughed at) is actually an infamous scandal that happened in 70s involving US President Nixon. In short, he was caught spying on the Democrats (he's a Republican & the Democrat's HQ was at Watergate) & tried to hide the evidence. He was caught & forced to step down as President before he got impeached. Nixon was never charged tho bc the guy tht replaced him (his VP, Ford) pardoned Nixon for his crimes. That's American History for ya...sad not much has rly changed lol

I feel like the haircut also kind of takes away all of Eleven's progress, because she grew her hair out as sort of like "this is a new life, where i can, and I'm not under that thrall anymore"... so having it cut off again I think would feel like she was being pulled back into this sort of slavery, where she's lost all of the ground she'd gained.

If the Chief had stopped Jason from speaking, imagine the outcry from those people for denying his "free speech", or trying to cover it up. Jason is such a giant PRICK! Even though that’s what he called Eddie, it’s not true. It’s actually the other way around. To me, Jason is one of those typical jocks who’s only out for himself, believes sports is the only thing that matters, and refuses to see or even believe the goodness in certain people. That scene at town hall just makes me so angry. Not just because of Jason calling out and insulting the Hellfire Club, but also because of Powell and Callahan. They don’t even try to stop Jason and let him speak his words. Not to mention that they do a terrible job at handling everything in Hawkins. The two of them have always been to me, “the dumb police”. I mean, not locking your doors at night will go on your permanent records, SERIOUSLY? It makes me wish Hopper was still there. I guarantee that he would know how to handle the public and I guarantee that if the kids told him the truth about Eddie, he would believe them 1000%. Hopper really knows what it means to be a cop, a leader, and a hero.

Let's say you were in Jason's shoes your girlfriend was killled near the same guy and you just saw your friend get lifted and killled chasing the same guy what would be your conclusion, lm not defending him for going crazy but see it from his perspective, and for the cops yeah there are incompetent

@@mcdonaldmasawi6958 Eh, it's still Jason's fault for assuming without evidence and then spreading the misinformation, therefore putting people's lives and reputation at risk, which was easy for him to do as he had it out for Eddie since the start before all the killings even happened, calling him a freak and whatnot.
@revangerang
@revangerang 10 күн бұрын
Jason is a prick and a selfish jock, AND there isn't much else he could have done in his situation. He clearly already had poor emotional hygiene and coping mechanisms, plus there really wasn't any logical explanation for the murders. A person who was at the scene twice doing a satanic ritual is at least slightly more rational than "an invisible boogie man is doing a satanic ritual." If anything, the only other rational explanation would be that someone is framing Eddie, but like, another human, not an invisible boogie man from another dimension. 😅 The entire town is also to blame for going along with the witch hunt instead of calming Jason down and comforting him in his grief.

As a longtime DnD player i take personal offence to these satanic panic religious nuts. They abandon all logic to follow this devil worship idea.

It's clear to me that Papa's whole experiment thing was built for Eleven. He never planned on the other kids being successful, he put all his eggs in one basket, all the other kids were to make Eleven the best. He boosted the other kids up to be used to boost Eleven even further. The one miss in this show is I really think they should have had Papa be revealed to be her actual father...it all makes to much sense. Yes he pushes her but all his actions were showing he genuinely wanted her to be a SUPERHERO. Which is very fatherly....

That is almost certainly NOT what happened. That's absurd. When what happened... happened (being vague to avoid spoilers), Eleven was literally the only Number left to do experiments on. SPOILERS BELOW You have a very strange understanding of what happened. It's more likely that One is the biological father of every single Number, including Eleven, even if it was done through artificial insemination. It's also possible that One is ONLY Eleven's biological father and not the others, given that he favored her so heavily. Papa was simply trying to recreate One with a more controllable subject, as One was a grade-A psychopath that could only be controlled through an inhibitor chip. He was using MANY subjects to achieve this goal.

That is an interesting take. It would make an interesting storyline. I think bable is closer to the truth tho.
