Translations of the Dutch dialogue in E7: Dutch lady: I'm very honored to meet a friend of my mother's. Ross: Thanks for the coffee. And "Bloemen" - Flowers. Gunther: You speak Dutch? That's cool. Do you have relatives there? Ezel means "donkey" or "ass" (also slang for a dumb person). And later he says "You have sex with donkeys". Ross (at the end): And because I'm such a strong, strapping "alleenstaande" which means single. E7 was dedicated to Pearl Harmon. She was Matt le Blanc's great grandmother who died on October 26th 2001 at the age of 101. David Schwimmer directed E8. Goofs: A nitpicky thing that has always bugged me is while the maid is cleaning in E7, she gets up on the kitchen counter in her boots. Yet, Monica, who is not only a neat freak but has severe OCD, is perfectly fine with it. It is even more ironic that she is doing it while cleaning. I've always found it weird how in American shows and movies characters wear their shoes inside (sometimes they even get into bed with their shoes on). Is this a real thing or just a TV/movie thing? In E7, Phoebe blows off Ross for lunch without hesitation in order to go on a date, but before in an ep. in S7 she believed people shouldn't blow off their friends for a date (like Joey did). When Eric is taking out his contact lenses he only takes out one.
@CaseyTyler3575 ай бұрын
Wearing shoes at home is just a tv thing, not something we do in normal life. I'm guessing it's just because the actors wouldn't want to go without shoes while walking around the studio/set.
@letsrock17295 ай бұрын
Yes, the kitchen counter/boots thing is totally unrealistic...Monica should be freaking out about that. I would be. People aren't even allowed to wear their 'outdoor shoes' in my house 😊
@susanholly0075 ай бұрын
@@CaseyTyler357this is false. I’m 52, American, lived here all my life and everybody I know wears shoes in the house. Now on the counter…no, that’s gross. When I visited the UK I was very surprised I was expected to take off my shoes and leave them by the door.
@aliselynch5 ай бұрын
It depends on the house. Some people wear shoes all the time and others (like me) almost never wear shoes in the house. Personal taste. But you are right about the counter and even the maid looks back at Monica like maybe she expected something, but Monica perhaps says nothing because she's focused on her goal. They should've had her flinch or start to protest at least though
@fiveoctaves5 ай бұрын
@@susanholly007Agreed. In virtually every American home where I've been a guest, I've been expected to keep shoes on. Some people even think it would be weirder or worse for guests to remove shoes. I think they expect feet to smell bad...and sometimes that's true.

Since you appreciate the great Sean Penn, it's worth noting a couple of things behind the scenes of Friends during his stint. Sean said originally he offered to do a cameo on the show at the begging of his children at the time who were huge Friends fanatics. The producers talked him into doing a muti episode arc. He had never paid attention to the show when his kids were watching, so when he did the first table read, he went from thinking a sitcom would be a mailed in layup to instantly realizing if he didn't bring his A game this talented group of actors would bury him. David Schwimmer shares a hilarious story how his acting role model coming up was Sean Penn so was incredibly excited to be meeting and working with his idol. The episode Sean first appears is The Holiday Armadillo episode and David had to get fitted early on a Monday in the week for the costume. He says he's in full Armadillo custome standing there alone when Sean Penn arrived early to wardrobe for his fitting that week. It was just Sean and David in an Armadillo outfit standing together in an empty room by themselves for a long beat in silence. David was speechless because he was mortified he was meeting his acting hero dressed ridiculously. Sean Penn later admitted he was tipped off by producers David was a huge fan so this was arranged to happen this way to goof on David. This episode by the way was directed by David Schwimmer. So he was able to say he directed Sean Penn. Penn said he'd only take direction by David if he wore the Armadillo costume. I'm sorry, but Sean gaslighting David is hilarious. When you watch Friends bloopers and any time someone messes up, then David whose not in the scene walks up and huddles around the actors, that's when you know he's directing an Episode. It's fascinating watching Ross in this episode because that scene between him and Dr.Green with Mona ping ponging back and forth between them is a masterclass in comedy. And to think Schwimmer is directing himself as well as the other actors he's in the scene as well as the scene itself. He's a ridiculously talented guy. David would make Sean Penn proud.

Sean Penn's first episode was The One With The Halloween Party, where Ross was dressed in a potato costume as Spudnik. Penn was then in the next episode, The Stain, which David Scwimmer directed. The One With The Holiday Armadillo was in the season before these two episodes. Still a great story and an equally embarrassing costume haha.

Hi Nick Reactions , I love the restaurant scene reaction here so much! This was priceless I know a little about some wine but have not tried any of the 70's . As for Rachel and Joey continue being roommates... not a fan of them as roommates but it does have it's funny moments. The episode where Monica hires a cleaning lady is one of the oddest and for me disturbing ; I had become so busy with work a few years back I was actually looking for someone to help tidy up my place while I was at work . I mentioned this to my church to see if they knew anyone trust worthy and right away two ladies were mentioned that were relatives from members of church even though neither lady were members of our church I decided to give them a try. They arrived right on time as I was leaving for work. When I returned back I not only noticed how clean my place was but how Cleaned Out I was . My Nynja Blender, Westing House can opener, Black and Decker coffee maker, and all of my ceramic bowls =12 were gone . I did make several calls over the next two weeks to get my belongings back but no calls back and I ended up leaving that church before the second week was over. I mean if you can not trust a church?? Seriously . I really enjoyed the reactions and comments here A lot! Monica as a stripper is adorable . I can not not love Monica ; as much as her quirks sometimes get on my nerves she has her adorable moments . Then Rachel's idea of her and Rosse's baby telling her dad that he is his grandchild is so up my allley I can not be mad at her for it . Thank you so much for these Nick

You grow distance from your friends far too soon. We have to leave home at 15-16 for another linguistic region for school or apprenticeship, and you just grow distance from friends and also family (it broke my heart to leave my little sister, I missed her soooo much), the language is different, the food is different, the music is different... So later we tend NOT to build relationsships, not the first years, because we fear to lose them all like it happened at that age. I started to build long-lasting relationships at 25-30 again...
