She Lost Her Memory After Her Third Concussion

It’s no secret that children who play contact and collision sports are at risk for head trauma and concussions. But the question is, should children be allowed to play these sports? Dr. Phil meets 17-year-old Sidney and her parents, Carlos and Kristen. Sidney says every day, she wakes up having almost no memory of the day before and is unable to recognize people she knows after sustaining a third concussion playing women's lacrosse. Then, Kimberly and Jan say they advocate for an age limit for children playing collision sports like football, but not everyone agrees. My heart goes out to this family! I work in special education and have a student who is extremely intelligent, but because of a horrific head injury, he has memory lapses. He's such an amazing person and I am so blessed to have the job I do!

Whether you lose your memory or not, there are still going to be haters, predators, a-holes, etc. The girl should just ignore them and focus on getting better and receiving help from the people who support her.

Prayers for a fast recovery. I have had many concussions and I am very thankful I haven’t lost my memory. My last major fall was last winter. I slipped on a patch of ice and hit my head on concrete. Was going in and out of consciousness. Doctors thought I fractured my skull. After hearing this story, I’m surprised that didn’t happen to me. I had so many head injuries from the time I was a little girl to an adult.

@@NH-tb2smplenty of dogs see a crate as security and their own space, it’s an area the dog can go if they are feeling overwhelmed or want to be left alone, it’s also possibly a travel crate that the dog has chosen to still use at home for comfort, the fact of the matter is it doesn’t matter how you feel about it, you don’t know why the dog is in a crate and you don’t know this family or their story so maybe mind your own business instead of threatening to take a young girls dog away from her when she already has enough going on, the dog seems happy, no one’s beating or abusing the dog it seems very comfortable around everyone, is it abuse if my dog sleeps outside and never comes inside, my dog is an outside dog he’s an outside dog for his health as well as my landlord doesn’t want any pets inside, so you simply don’t know anyone else’s story 😅

I think the way they're explaining it is she only has short term memory no long term memory. She said if she left her house for a couple of weeks she would have to relearn everything

If she "resets" everyday and cant remember anything from the day before, forgets everyday she has speech therapy, forgets questions asked just minutes prior then HOW does she remember how things are at school?? How does she remember how her friends act towards her and how some people arent her friends anymore?? How does she remember that she sometimes smiles when her friends approach her and sometimes not??? How does she remember not remembering her dog and recited word for word what she said about keeping the dog??? I'm sorry but her story doesnt add up! Like at all! She is such a faker!!

I 100% agree. It's fake. My experience is a mother who had a traumatic brain injury from a massive car wreck. Although there are depths to amnesia from head trauma, none of them look like this.

@daisy's field she absolutely is not. I am certain that my aunt and uncle (her parents), have been reminding her the things she's said and done. She's been in the hospital recently due to consistent migraines she's been experiencing.

I don't think that it's exactly a memory loss. might be hard to comprehend even a quarter of the procedure, but after conclusion when you get so many times hit in the ciritical area in the brain the world might feel so big that you can't mentally handle the pressure, and brain protect itself in order to save yourself to further.
