I saw this show at the Lyric Theatre in London in 1964. I still have the programme.I've always loved the songs.,and the young man sings it beautifully.

I love this song - sang it for my sophomore voice recital - I thought the moves my instructor put in it were over the top, but we're nothing compared to this

What I carried away the 1st time watching this was all the moving and the spinning and the strength of the voice, as opposed to being affected by the song. So THERE!
@pharoe1416 жыл бұрын
To be honest I wasn't too much into the show when I first heard the score, but the story really captivated me. It really lets the characters grow, and so the music is secondary to the story, as any strong show should be I think.

I totally know what you're saying. I would have LOVED to have just sang the heck of out it, and just make it into a really nice love song, but when we do shows it's not the actor's decision. But thanks!

Hehe, it's not like it's my choice, I was directed. But thanks. It was explained to me that it was supposed to be like a little kid, because he just found out he's in love. So I was directed that whatever I did not to let the song seem like a beautiful love song, because that's boring, but rather more of a "I don't know what to do with myself" type of an energy. But thanks!

where can i download this song for free?

Grounded doesn't necessarily mean nailed to the floor, or heavy or still. Perhaps a better word would have been "simple". I was originally commenting on the abundance of movement dissapating the energy, and obscuring the heart of the song. If you give someone a choice between watching you and LISTENING to you, they're going to WATCH, and thus the true heart of the song is lost.

@yukikun123 he does. What a jerk.
@dramajames813 жыл бұрын
Umm... Why all the spinning? It's ridiculously distracting. Other than that, it's a beautifully sung rendition.
@Blactor17 жыл бұрын
I get that...but I'd say that it kind of IS a beautiful love song, just not in a ballad-y kind of way. You're clearly a dynamic performer, and I know what your director was saying, but I feel like a more grounded approach would've served the material a little better! Just my...two MORE cents.

No, not really. It's got a very old time feel to it, not really jazzy. Anyone else would like to share their feelings on the style of this show?
@tedford70888 жыл бұрын
are you kidding. This singing is awful, totally off-key. He massacred what should be a delightful song
@AndrewRudin8 жыл бұрын
+Ted Ford No. You're wrong. He's not "off-key". You may not like his version, but your criticism doesn't make sense.
@MovieBios8 жыл бұрын
+Ted Ford - there is absolutely nothing wrong with the pitch of the gentleman's singing. He is in tune from beginning to end. If you don't care for his version, offer some constructive comment, but you are completely incorrect and it is a perfectly professional performance of the song.
