No, Qianlong is wrong. Yongcheng only wants the crown prince position because he knows that’s what’ll make Noble Consort Jia happy. He was already telling her to cut it out with the schemes because he was getting sick of it but Jia came up with the stupid hunting grounds plot. The thing is, if Jia had just shut up and sit down she would’ve had a good chance of becoming a Dowager because Yongcheng was truly talented. He just wanted his mother’s approval and love.

Yongcheng only really cared about his mother’s love and wanted to make her proud and happy. Jia only cared about the His Lordship of Yu clan, and Yongcheng was nothing more than an accessory to that. He even said at one point, “I don’t want to be crown prince, I just want my mom!” He just cared about being a good son. Her over calculating ruined both of their lives.

It's their own insecurity that fuelled their anger and paranoia. When Hongli had yet to ascend the throne, Fucha, Gao, and Jin were already jealous of Ulanara, and even when their titles and ranks were decided they were far from content. Their envy and greed twisted their minds, and since they went to such great lengths to calculate against each other and Ruyi, the greater their paranoia grew that everyone else was out to get them. Thinkers truly are doers. 😭

@@superchick4994 Oh yes, they definitely played a large hand in all this. Jin Yuyan (Jia) was also in love with her lord, so she was also trying to impress him and bring him honour. But look at most of the Mongolian concubines, especially Ying and Ke. They were young but had no taste for ruining others, only moving chess pieces along to protect Ruyi and turn Hongli's hard head towards the truth. In Ying's case, I suppose she was treasured by her father but also disciplined/taught well, unlike Gao (Huixian) who seemed used to getting what she wanted.

Jia is trying to bribe the court into favoring her son. She fails to realize the bigger the bribe, the more noticable it will become. This bribe and the rescue of the emperor at the Mulan hunting grounds by the 4th prince raised the emperor's suspicion. The final nail in the coffin was when Jia tried to marry her son off to someone with royal blood showing her intention to make sure her son had the best chance to become the next emperor. The emperor permanently demoted the 4th prince to bring a duke and removed him from the line of succession.
I realize that this drama and novel are not relevant to the history in many points such as Noble Consort Yu (of Keliyete clan aka Hailan) is older than the Step Empress (of Nara clan aka Ruyi), or Emperor Qianlong favoured both Han Chinese born Noble Consort Huixian (of Gao clan) and Noble Consort Chunhui (of Su clan) very much when they're alive.
@katherinkeegan86012 жыл бұрын
Ying seems to be egging the 4th prince on. It makes you wonder what she was hoping to accomplish. The fact the 4th prince decides to show off and his mother tried to get him to quit, definitely raises the emperor's suspicion. Did she realize what would happen?

Liangguang refers to The Two Guang provinces - Guangdong and Guangxi. It's a shorter way of saying the two together as governors during those times were usually responsible for two neighbouring provinces at the same time.
@helellwine2 жыл бұрын
not sure whether those chokers/necklaces were legit. can't find any records for wearing them randomly, but for the concubines' court dress, there are indeed similar jewellery worn. and LiangGuang(两广) means the two Guang provinces, which is GuangDong(广东) and GuangXi(广西), so both of the address are actually correct.

@@joshua5g as I was researching what Liangguang was (beyond that it literally means "two Guang's", and yeah it indeed was Kwanghsi & Canton), I read that it was a viceroyalty during the Qing Dynasty, hence it should've been "Viceroy of Liangguang" instead
