I'm a Realtor. We are considered self-employed. I keep all receipts. Keep a spread sheet of all buyers and sellers and related addresses. I use a specific credit card for all purchases related to my job. I then use TurboTax Home and Business and follow the step-by-step questions. I also make quarterly payments (most of the time). If you're organized, it only takes one day to gather everything and get my taxes done. If you don't make quarterly payments, definitely keep a separate bank account and set aside at least 15 percent from each payment you receive.

Many of the surveys are about your health insurance coverage and your income, the number of children you were raising, where you live, how big your house is, what's your weekly grocery bill is like and what you purchase. I would like to know whether TJ’s “fishing” time is included when calculating the number of hours spent on this. The reason I ask is because $25/hr sounds great but if that gets diluted after you factor in the unpaid “fishing”/searching time then it’s not got as good an hourly salary as it seems at first.

Question!!! After watching this and several other videos that you have produced about this topic... I know that it's advised to have a separate email account for this type of income. But what about a separate phone number, pay pal account, bank account, .. and what about taxes? Is this considered 1099 work that you will have to pay those high 'self employement' taxes on?? So many questions... I want to do it but I want clarity before I jump in and create a mess first.

@lpmama11968 ай бұрын
The issue I have is with this type of work is that it's considered independent contractor. Therefore the employer does not pay social security taxes on on your behalf based on your wages. I was a notary signing agent and I found lots of work but at tax time I was paying 50% tax rate in my state. The money I made wasn't worth my time (and not to mention the wear & tear on my car.) Perhaps this is a better solution because there's no driving involved, yet the taxes are a bitter pill to swallow. Some may be willing trade the higher tax rate in order to have the flexibility.
@anniesshenanigans38157 ай бұрын
that is what I was thinking as well. Get paid 10 dollars and pay 5 dollars in taxes?? Not really worth it if you are spending an hour on a 'project' if you add up the time involved. that is less than the very low minimum wage!!

Hi - I apologize for maybe not following rules. I am planning to be working remotely in the near future. How do you manage receiving a paycheck? I have heard a lot about mail services and I already do a lot of business on line. I am a bit concerned about receiving a paycheck. Plus I have a client who has an intern that wants us to direct deposit her pay check and we don't know how to do that since she is not on our payroll. Any advice is appreciated. I started watching your channel recently and have made it through the first year and am getting through year two. I appreciate your work for us who are not quite there yet. OH - also I have a farm in upstate NY. If you ever come this far east come for a visit. I will be selling by fall, so come soon. We have water and electric hookups for three sites, but two have semi-permanent campers in place.

Greetings from Asia! Thank you so much for this video! The work culture in Asia can be quite abusive and harmful to one's physical and mental health. So glad to know there is an alternative approach to generating steady, good income!

I'm going to do it. I'm going to ask about taxes. How do you file with these types of jobs? Are you an independent contractor? Do you even get any 1099's, etc?

I’m wondering if being almost 64 years young with few computer skills, not a shopper, I have what I need & that’s all I want. Makes me a bad candidate? I tried some of this last year just not these companies. I got up early filled out surveys to qualify then went to my full time job. When I got home I filled out more surveys while eating dinner & until bed. Did that for about 6-8 weeks every day & was exhausted only to see I didn’t qualify. Wrong companies or going to find the same outcome with these is what I’m wondering? It was difficult because I usually have internet connections that are not great. I think dealing with that would be another expense. I’m a widow left with a load of debt living in my travel trailer but not able to enjoy it.
