Idk if anyone ever explained the score jokes for you, but the English Dub of the original run of Dragon Ball Z didn't use the Japanese score, and instead got Bruce Falconer to compose a new score. Scott favours the original Japanese Score, while most western kids who grew up watching DBZ on Toonami are typically preferential to the Falconer Score. And the one at the beginning with Yamcha talking about stolen music; the composer for the Dragon Ball Z Kai soundtrack was caught plagiarizing basically everything, so while the Kai soundtrack is objectively phenomenal, it's stained by a thief composer.
