Mariam Ibraheem was born in a refugee camp in Sudan. Her Muslim father died when she was six, and her mother raised her in the Christian faith. After a traumatic childhood, Mariam became a successful businessperson, married the man she loved, and had a beautiful baby boy.
But one day in 2013, her world was shattered when Sudan authorities insisted she was Muslim because of her father’s background. She had broken the law by marrying a Christian man, and she must abandon both her marriage and her son and adopt Islam. Under intense pressure, Mariam repeatedly refused. Ultimately, a Sharia court sentenced her to 100 lashes-and death by hanging.
Follow Mariam’s story from life under Islamic law, through imprisonment and childbirth while shackled, to her remarkable escape from death following an international outcry and advocacy that included diplomats, journalists, activists, and even Pope Francis.

I remember Miriam's story! I try to follow persecuted Christian's across the world and found Miriam's story since she was given a death penalty and it was in world news and it took a bit of digging to find the real story. I so remember her and praying for her. When she was finally granted freedom it was glorious victory of Jesus Christ! So happy to hear her testimony. In Islam women must obey the father. If in the absence of the father then the brother, uncle, grandfather becomes her guardian. Basically she must obey the male mahram or close blood related in the family. Later as a married woman she must obey her husband. Everything that she does in her daily life must with permission from her guardian. If you don't understand Islamic rules, don't talk!. And don't use the word mother for Aisya. She is not! Muhammad had 13 wives including Khadijah. So why you called Aisya, mother? Aisya was groomed fr sex since she was 6 years old!
