That was Alberta during the oil boom, lol. Many oil workers were taking out lines of credit that matched their ridiculously high salaries only to rent a dump Apartment while driving a Lotus or a Lamborghini thus paying almost 3 times as much for a car payment and insurance than their monthly rent. Then came the oil crash and layoffs, and a half priced Lotus on Craigslist.

Between the two I can do anything I need to do including tow my camper, I akso have 4x4, And when I want good mileage, prius.... $7800 total. The actual numbers. An $84K auto loan at 6 percent over 72 months will have a monthly payment of about $1,400. After 3 years the loan principle would be paid by about $37K, not $10K. Most likely this lady is simply too dim to comprehend the real numbers.

I dont see how it's not. The interest rate is the reason for all of it.
@carsnanime47196 ай бұрын
@@JoeJoe-im7vh the article said she financed 84k at 10.2% interest, looking at the amortization schedule at the 3 year mark she should be at the 54k remaining balance (84k, 10.2% interest, 84 month payoff). So the math is indeed not mathing, total interest cost on that loan should only be $33,868. But we'd have to see the actual paperwork to know the true numbers haha
@jerrylundegaard25926 ай бұрын
@@JoeJoe-im7vh The actual math is an $84K loan over 72 months at 6 percent interest has a monthly payment of about $1,400. With no interest the payment would be $1,167. The only thing that makes no sense in her comment is that she only paid $10K of the loan amount. That is not possible as the actual payment would be close to $37K.

Do your research first on the car you want and have your pre-approval before approaching any dealership. My credit union sent the check to the dealership; I signed my paperwork and left within 30 to 45 minutes (Tags, title and taxes, document fees only). You can get GAP insurance through your bank. You don’t need all of the extra fluff.

1400 dollars a month if you are making 15000 a month is not so bad.
@np4946096 ай бұрын
Yeah it is. I make $22,000/month before taxes. I still think $1,400/month is high for this car, because I look at the total cost of the car and its interest. In this case, the woman is paying almost all of her money towards interest on the front of the loan due to the lop sided amortization schedule. The bank is hoping she will default on the loan or trade it in before it’s paid off. That’s why it’s too much. Also, I drive a 2013 Ford Explorer that I paid for cash. Instead of taking my money and blowing it on some car for $2,000 / month because of my income, I’ve paid off all my debt and invested that extra cash. That’s why some people stay broke and others accumulate assets and grow their net worth. I don’t give a shit what people think about me, and don’t need a new Luxury car or some big overgrown truck to feel cool and keep up with Jones’s. The funniest thing is, 90% of these idiots buying large trucks don’t ever use the tow kit or racks.

This is true story. I traded in a 93 Acura Intergra for a new 97 Camry that cost $25,000. I leased it instead of buying. I used the Intergra for initial down payment and leased it for over 3 years. It had 65,000 miles and I decided to buy it. The dealer no longer owned the car, and I had to financed it with a bank for 4 years. The car valued less (mush less than the residue value) , but the monthly payment was about the same because it was financed at a higher interest rate for used car. I paid the car off after 7 years and cost over $40,000. Lesson learned: Never lease a car.
