At the beginning, I noticed that the other new hires (most of them fresh graduates) weren't hard workers, and only gave the bare minimum that was expected from them. Streaming and the internet have pretty much ruined society. Why would ANYONE strive to be a doctor, or work in any STEM field, where you're making $230,000 a year (About $130 an hour), working 80 hour super intense work weeks, with people's lives in your hands.... Or...you could play video games, in front of a web cam, and potentially earn what Moistcritical earned while playing Starfield....$20,000 per hour, and many millions $$ per year.

Saw a 10k sub creator ask what he was doing wrong after being on the plat 12yrs and getting abysmal views. Well he had painted himself into a corner with an extremely specific niche that maybe only a couple hundred thousand ppl in the entire world are interested in. Plus his video quality was garbage-trash mic, no cam/just the content on screen, and he didn’t sound confident whatsoever on his voiceovers. On the other hand, I ran into a guy with 35k subs getting consistent 10-40k views per video, reacting to other content. HOWEVER, his “reaction” would be a couple of sentences, then just sit through the rest. Know why he’s coming up? Consistency. He posts at least 4-5 vids per week, and even tho he doesn’t speak much, he speaks with confidence and has a camera. Plus his persona is five shades of he-doesn’t-give-af 😂 Verrrry few faceless channels make it nowadays and I’m not counting V-tubers since they still technically have a “face” lol You CAN make it on here. Most people give up before they even really get started or pick the wrong niches to cover. You have to create a persona and try to build a brand right out of the gate now, because this isn’t 2014 anymore. Far many are missing so many steps in brand building, so they fall flat. If you don’t have the time nor the money to start out strong, then it isn’t worth either one in the end🤷🏼‍♀️

I don't buy it. Here's what I think happened. So right now it's heading into the winter term because the first term, Fall, just ended. I think she WAS a PhD student. But the massive difficulty increase in the commitment and course work from her first term was a rude awakening for her that she wasn't cut out for it. She probably wasn't interning or getting connections to immediately get a job. Or more likely she doesn't want to admit defeat and pivoted to OF as an f'ed up way to look successful. I dated a girl that went into a PhD program. She did great in undergrad but burned out in less than a year as soon as she got into the program because of the difficulty scaling. I knew early on it was going to happen because of how much she prioritized her social life. And when she dropped out of the program she came up with all sorts of excuses.
