I failed 4 tests to after a year of learning. My instructor and myself knew I was capable of passing my test, but unfortunately it was just down to bad luck and other road users resulting me being put in situations I’d never been in before. Thankfully I just passed my test on Thursday for my fifth attempt! 🎉

I just passed my test first time this week and I genuinely thought I failed, I was following the sat nav at a mini roundabout, got into position, indicated but nerves got the better of me and I went straight ahead! After that I thought I had definitely failed but I thought, I'm going to finish strong and kept my cool. Ended up passing with 3 minors! Moral of the story, dont give up until the end!

I think her main problem is focusing too much on one thing at a time and viewing little mistakes as complete failures which then leads to more dangerous situations - like being unsure of which lane to use so ending up straddling multiple causing danger to other drivers. She needs to focus less on remembering each and every tip she's ever been told and instead focus on driving safely and smoothly - don't overwork your brain. Understand how to look for danger and take steps to avoid it, almost everything else is just muscle memory.

I failed more times than Steph and have had my licence now for over 6 years. You're not awful, Steph, and you CAN drive. You'll pass, don't beat yourself up when you make a mistake, see at as an opportunity to iron something out that then won't be a hindrance when you do your test.

Sometimes it’s an emotional issue. I used to overthink everything and I’d go in panic mode. I passed my test on the 3rd attempt. Keep calm drive safely. And always plan ahead whenever you drive anticipate danger before it finds you and breathe. Take you time if you aren’t sure don’t go. They want a safe and competent driver.

At 14:39, there was gap next to the van for the van driver to pull there and allow her to pass; that’s poor driving from the van driver. She had already passed the gaps so her only option was to reverse. It sucks that the blame would’ve been put on the learner if it was a real test.

Great video btw
@ThatGuyXX72 ай бұрын
If I was the van driver I would have attempted to go into the gap, but at the same time this is a test, you're giving her an out for a space that she obviously couldn't see before meeting the van in the road. She could and should have given way beforehand as the van was already in the narrow road.
@happyyuk2 ай бұрын
You are right about there's probably a gap for the van to go into but when the learner reached the entrance of the passing, the van was already halfway through so if the van decided to carry through, they were definitely not in the wrong as well. What's more, the learner also asked 'Should I stop here?' before she entered meaning that she was not sure if she should go in. Driving is about planning ahead and if you can see the hazards, you should react to them before it's too late.

Steph can totally do it, she just needs to focus on the present and work on scanning and planning, it just takes practice. 😊 Take it from someone who used to dwell on mistakes and failed a test once before! It’s hard, but try to just focus on what’s ahead (not what came before) and keep practicing, you will eventually pick it up. A few months back I didn’t think I could actually do it, but it all came together a few weeks before my test and I felt so confident in my ability to pass. I had my test at Hilton (Mitcham) and passed with 6 minors and I only found out about the location change two weeks before my test! I can honestly say it was way easier and nicer than the standard Mitcham routes I practiced before my test, it was a blessing in disguise to be at Hilton! Best of luck 🫶

On the road with parked cars on both sides, since they were on both sides of the road, nobody had priority in that situation. However, given that the other driver went through the gap first, it would be a bit of a pickle to assume you could go in in that particular situation especially when the oncoming car is wider than the one you were driving which meant higher difficulty for them to fit into the gaps on the side of the road. As someone who passed my test not long ago, I do think that for learner drivers, sometimes it's hard to juggle everything all at once but if you are not sure, just don't go. It's better to wait than have to reverse back, what if there's somebody behind you, right? People in my area are generally quite nice and usually give way when the roads are narrow but I always assume they are not going to at first and pay attention to the gaps I can fit myself into whenever there is oncoming traffic on a small road.

Why don't you try the test cancellations chrome extension to rebook? I know what you'd think, I thought the same as well when I first saw it. It's not a scam and it's free although donations are welcome. I personally used it to move my two tests 3 or 4 months ahead. It was developed by a previous fellow learner driver who was desperate to have their test rebooked after a failed test but normal waiting times were ridiculous. Just remember to read the instructions posted by the programmer. I got blocked by the website every now and then when I searched for an extended amount of time, don't panic, just delete the cookies and cache then close the browser. Restart again, you should probably be fine, just don't set the intervals too close together otherwise the DVSA website might think you are a bot and you will get blocked pretty quickly again. Also, a friend of mine said her brother phoned DVSA asking to be put on the waiting list for test cancellations and he got his test moved forward a few weeks. You can try both methods to get the best of the two worlds. Good luck with your next test.

How many times can you stall (not in a dodgy place and you recover and move off quick) before it becomes a serious? I still stall in my instructor’s aygo and it’s making me nervous, thankfully it’s never in a dangerous spot but it’s more frequent than I would like as I just can’t get 100% comfy with the bite!
@DrivingSchoolTV2 ай бұрын

@happyyuk2 ай бұрын
@@jas_313 I never drove an aygo before but I would say I stalled every now and then up until a month or two before my actual test. Some experienced driver friends still stall every so often so it's not a big deal as long as you don't get too caught up in the embarrassment of stalling your car. As you progress more, you will get used to it as long as you have a calm, patient instructor to help you. Did your instructor teach you to add some gas when lifting the clutch? I think I drove a Japanese car in the past, at that time my instructor told me to count to 5 before completely letting go of the clutch pedal. Also, don't rush and panic when the traffic in front of you is moving because that's when you tend to rush slipping off the clutch foot which causes the stalling. Don't overthink about the stalling and you will know it when you are ready to take the test.
