That does happen sometimes. My cousins were both golden blonde when they were younger, but by the time they were both around seven, their hair had both turned chocolate brown. When I was born, I had jet black hair, when I was a toddler it had turned a strawberry blonde. As an adult, it's dark brown with red glints in it (although the red is now turning white at a rapid pace! :D
