neet little tractor. raised on a 640 acre spread, 1 Sq mile. We used to get the rocks off in early spring, while ground was frozen (Idaho). Piled them up and used for road low spots and drainage rip-rap.

That's how my grandfather died, picking up rocks in a field. He and my grandmother bought 113 acres in Humansville MO when he retired from the masonry business. Anyway he came in one morning and showered before breakfast. My grandmother said she heard him upstairs sit down to put on his shoes on, then thump on the floor. He had hardening of the arteries so bad the coroner thought they would have to dislocate his legs to get him down the old farm house steps. When you have some free time I'd keep all those rocks together and you will find a use for them in the future. My dad and uncle could have bought that property with two houses for $30k in 1970. That was our vacation a few times a year. My parents had 7 kids.

I grew up down by Jackson Minnesota. We sold all the big rocks to a landscaper who used them to build a wall. My dad had a rock picker called us kids. We were also the weed pullers and corn detaslers.

I'm in Minnesota I've picked many rocks on the farm. If the dinosaurs would quit laying those hard eggs it sure would make life a lot easier. 50 yearsago I would have never thought ppl want rocks for decor. That is what my son does. Digs the big rocks out of fields, gravel pits, or wherever he is needed. Then he sells them. Many are big boulders only get 3 in the semi side dump. Keep on Farming don't forget to have fun.

Buried Rocks will grow back up through that topsoil as water washes down through them. I've picked dozens of loads of rocks off a plateau on our place and late in summer it looks beautiful. Then come next spring, there's more rocks!!! I Finally gave up and let Mother Nature have her way.

I could have used that in my yard in Granby, CT. We had a yard full of what I call "Granby" potatoes. They were rocks that get pushed up by the frost every year and I would walk around picking them out of the yard. I guess that yard must have been at the bottom of a lake at one time because all the rocks were like lake rocks, round and polished. A lot less rocks in my yard here in Strongsville Ohio and of course the yard is microscopic compared to my CT yard.

Hi Josh, thank you for the video. Your description of it looking like the surface of the moon is exactly how my wife and I describe the back portion of our 3 1/2 acres. We bought 150 year home and 3 1/2 acres about 5 years ago in Nova Scotia. About 2 1/2 acres was totally unusable full of bushes, piles of dirt and rocks and the previous owners allowed road crews to use it as a dumping ground even a 30 foot metal drainage pipe. We have had the bush cut down, Escavators in to level everything and put a swale in to help with drainage when the stream on our property overflows. It is night and day from what it was but after doing all this it looks like the surface of the moon with still lots of work to be able to make it cut able. We want to plant grass, clover anything that the animals like deer, rabbits etc would like but still be able to keep it under control by cutting it. Your video shows us that it is possible. Thank you again for your video.

I'm sure a lot of people already know this, but for those who don't... One thing to keep in mind is the key to a fiscally successful farm is versatility. If rock moving becomes a regular thing for you, a purpose built attachment is a great idea. But if this is something you do twice in 10 years, might want to consider renting it or using something more multi-purpose. There's almost always some fancy tool that's made just for the job... but a rake can do so many other things.
@jwhitley101whitleyfarms94 жыл бұрын

Also,still waiting on the MF 35 repairs. I was on an internet auction yesterday and bought 2 International 140's with full set of cultivators on both and plow on 1. "Restored" according to the auction house and both have new paint,rubber,decals,seats,exhaust,etc. Hope they run as good as they look. Buy 2,sell one(maybe) and sell should pay for both since I got them right and in my area they are a well sought out tractor when they have the full cultivator sets.In KY and can't pick them up till next saturday. Dang work schedule lol. I'd rather be on a tractor right now.....Don't forget about the MF 35 repairs.Oh, I don't have barn or parade queen tractors. Bought the 140's to work. Need the front mounted cultivators so I don't run over my peas and corn. Got serious row crop plans for this year.
