My thoughts as well. There's nothing wrong with that old tractor, it'll be good for another 70 years if its taken care of. Maintenance is the key.

Love Earl! Old Massey are the coolest. And one of my favorite childhood memories was going with my grandfather and handing out our surplus garden veggies to the neighbors, seeing their smiling faces and that good feeling you get of helping people, that’s the best man

When I lived at home back in the sixties we used to plant a garden of sweet potatoes on a plot about that size, then another one with watermelon. I wouldn't worry about that smoke as far as that engine, Our Ferguson about that age had a grass burner exhaust to keep it out of your eyes. Just make sure your oil is good and the water level is good and keep running Earl. Don't paint her, (maybe a clear coat), keep giving her TLC and that tractor will outlast you. Save you money for your barn castle/house. You're getting there. I enjoy watching you young boys with all the energy that I once had. Maybe one day if you have a public event, I'll ride up there to see what you have. I'm just a few hours southwest of you in Gaston County, NC.

This really is MY tractor! Like him I am old (74), I tend to smoke a bit. Many of my parts are a bit battered, Since I retired 8 years ago I haven't worked a lot. And I do pretty good in the garden.

You can’t beat the older tractors for basic usage such as tilling, plowing or brush cutting. I have a 53 Ferguson that still runs great and use it for the basics it was intended for with great success. I would say keep Earl at least for a few years before deciding. He could be your simple go to on the farm.

Josh, I don't know if words can say it, but you have no idea of how refreshing it is to watch you and your videos. With all that is going on in the world, it seems once we join in on your world with you and your family, it is so refreshing and simple, it feels like we are missing out on the simple things in life that bring real joy. Love the enthusiasm and adventurous spirit. I have personally learned so much from your pain and mistakes... I mean real experiences. Thanks for being You

The garden spot has laid grasses over for 40 years. Dad gave up when us kids moved away.lol I'm back on the, what we called "the farm" back in the 80's. I bought An old 1970 Ford 4000 so this year will be (if able) getting the land cleared and prepped for a garden like yours. GOT TO REDO MY OLD CHICKEN COOP. Hi, just want to congratulate you and your family for the nice, fabulous work developed in Stoney Ridge Farm! It is really interesting how you present your plans and ideas and with such positive energy! About Earl, that is awesome, not just buying a brand new tractor. You have restored the soul of an icon. I believe it will not desappoint, because old machines have this war tank character in them and will never finish! Tip: I am for the idea of restoring it to the bone. I know this old look give it character, but as a collector, it would be nice to put it shining and sparkling as a old diamond! It would be nice to see Earl's vlog serie collection about it's restoration! Why not!? Keep the good work! Waiting for more new fresh positive videos!

Keep Earl. Not a terrible amount of money in him and extra tractors are priceless when you need them.I bought a yanmar 3000 several years ago at auction, did an inframe on it then parked it trying to find a use for it. This year I'm working a 1 acre corn and now pinto bean patch and the Yanmar has been my go to tractor for using a cone spreader to spread lime and fertilizer as well as planting with a 1 row Covington planter. Tread width matches my International 140 cultivating tractor just about perfect. Rows on 38" centers.Heavy tillage I use a JD 2030 weighted up to about 10,000 pounds. Finish disc work is with a JD 1250 and a 6' disc. Rear mount tiller I use a JD 1050. Towed bush hog is with a JD 5320.Loader grapple work is with a JD 2350. Loader work is with a NH TC-55. Pull up my recent video streams to see the results if you have the time.Seriously, a man can't have too many tractors if the cost is low enough.
