"Hollywood is a system that protects abusers." ALL systems protect their abusers, especially the most powerful ones, whether it be in entertainment, politics, corporations, law enforcement, religion, sports, or most any other community. People at the top of these hierarchies almost always circle the wagons to protect each other, because a lot can ride on the system's clean image and it's ability to stay powerful, relevant and/or make tons of money. Abusers thrive within this institutional protection. It gives them a safe arena to abuse with impunity while their associates either stand by and do nothing (often out of fear) or actively enable the abuse. I'm glad for this movie, hopefully it will serve to educate, but we must remember these issues are ubiquitous, historical and ongoing, and not relegated to Hollywood alone.
@c.aresty2 жыл бұрын
People with absolute power abuse it. We need to change our society so people with power don't have the ability to wield it against others, like Harvey Weinstein, the CIA, many police officers, and so many others have done for years.

It will serve to educate NO ONE. The problem lies in the greater SOCIETY ignoring the problem. This is just another example of what I coined as: Apologist Cinema. Take a problem one knows exists and is, as you so eruditely pointed out, ubiquitous and make a movie about it that will change nothing in the grander scale but serves rather as a calmative to the supposedly outraged masses. It's a joke really but people have been buying their brand of drug for almost a century. The belief that movies can change society is, in a word: insane. But of course look at the species. Born insane.
