I’m still here after 18 years post triple negative breast cancer grade 3. I had a mastectomy, 8 months of chemo and 25 radiation treatments age 35. And I’m lucky to still be here and enjoying life everyday. I had my other breast removed and my ovaries as a precaution. I’m now adopting a beautiful dog from the local rescue Centre to give her a lovely life too 🩷 good luck to all of you, whether your the patient or the family or friend of this horrible disease. My heart is with you all xxx

Fantastic forum. Keep up our fight. I lost my daughter at 40 to BRCA1 positive ovarian cancer. She left behind two sons that were barely 5 and 3. We need more forums like this made available to help women everywhere to manage their own health. The men in the places that should be passionately helping us AREN’T. We need more women of the world of all ethnicities to get the education and passion for the sciences to help us in this quest!

In 2008 I found a lump in my breast that turned out to be cancer. I have dense breast tissue. I had a mammogram 9 months before that was normal. It is important to know your body and to do self exams.

I always wished you gave more info about your process. I saw your ex-rays and I too had a lump in the same place as you but on the right breast. You had 15 radiation procedures and I had 33. I had biopsy, a stereotactic procedure, very painful, then the lumpectomy , then another surgery to remove more tissue. But I always wondered why you had 15 procedure and my doctor recommended 33. I was also stage 1. Now on anastrozole for about 5 years. So glad you did this program with Chrissy and Dr. Newman. Thanks Jane, Philadelphia

Wow! I was told my mammogram was fine, because they could not find anything, as I had dense breasts. Which they said my breasts were normal, because of the strong muscle tissue, instead of women who had fatty breasts...the x-ray could not see thru my muscle tissue. Luckily there is no history of breast cancer in my family. So I never worried about it. I'm soon to be 76, and still enjoying a healthy life! That's got to be one of the scarriest things ever to have your breasts removed. I used to have a good friend who had to have it done, to herself, and also her daughter! Thank you Katie Couric, I always enjoyed your shows, and this was most insightful! God Bless all Goddesses, because that's what we are! One more thing, believe in Angels...as they are around us all. Bless them and ask for their protection and guidance. It's a very good thing to do:)) May the power be with us, and Love remains!

3D mammogram picked up my .80 cm breast tumor in February this year. My first 3D was in Feb 2022. I have dense breasts. They said they do 2D mammograms unless the physician requests 3D! And that some insurance companies don’t pay for 3D. (I live on Maui)

Katie … I am in Australia … My Mum had ovarian cancer & was tested just 2 days before she died, with final tests selected some extra genes given her family history (lots of different cancers & no repeats)… it was found she had a mutant PALB2 Gene that is lesser known but acts similiar to BRCA1 & BRCA2… Both my sister & i were then tested, both being positive to the mutant PALB2 gene, that increased risk to ovarian, pancreatic & breast cancer… I then started high risk screening for BC in June 2020 & after first 3D Mammogram/US in June2020 I was diagnosed with BC Stage2c & have now done the lot (lumpectomy/chemo/radiation & then just finished this year double mastectomy/reconstruction) and on the same journey with Aromatose Inhibitors, and doing well now. In 2020 no screening for ovarian/pancreatic, but 3years on i am fortunate to be joining a Sydney pancreatic screening trial that is showing great success, and also in Melb there is a well advanced new 10year ovarian blood test that is planning to go to next level of trials for FDA approval later this year. I so believe the key is to having genetic testing being extended to any who wish to test or manage their own health… Note that every persons DNA carries approx 25000 genes, so there is a long way to go to work on solving the mystery to identify more genes that heightens risks using statistics … All the best to you both to keep up this awareness campaign that i am also so passionate about…

Evert chased Burt Reynolds who was just one of many man she threw herself at. You can read what she did in his autobiography. It's a wonder she's never got riddled with STD's, the list of men who raked her over is longer than cars through the Blackwall tunnel. And the heartache she caused in her pursuit of men. She broke up marriages, including her own, and caused grief to the children involved. She even killed her own baby before she/ was born because she preferred hitting a ball over the net to giving a daughter a chance of life. Jimmy Connors wasn't allowed to say whether his child lived or died. We thought she had settled down when Andy Mill came along, after she dumped a perfectly good husband, John Lloyd and she broke up Andy's marriage to get him. But karma finally caught up with her when husband number three dumped her. But not before the distress she caused to her own three sons and his children. Well her promiscuity finally caught up with her. Look at the state she's in now.

What you are saying is pure evil . Saying she got cancer because she was an actively sexual single woman when this “ activity” your talking about . You are wrongly assigning blame - her sister happened to find the love of her life early and stayed with him and she’d dead of ovarian cancer . Cancer can happen to any one at any time and it has. O thing to do with behavior. Chris was known to date but was not promiscuous by any standard sexually. She followed her heart not her gonads . Slut shaming must be a common way prejudiced ( sexist ) people make sense of an evil thing like cancer make sense to them . Expand your mind . If cancer was a result of being sexually active why don’t more men - sports stars get testicular cancer . Oh , I guess it’s ok for men to have sex outside or inside marriage because rate of testicular cancer is 1/25 of the rate women get breast and or ovarian cancer.
