I retired early because of cov , I upgraded to a 2020 Ram 1500 , got a 24 foot travel trailer and i hit the road full time off grid 99% , i sometimes go to an RV park and stay a night or two to dump black and gray or i find a dumping station . I've been to 37 states and my only regret is that i didn't do this when i was younger , its always been my dream . Florida my favorite state so far and the Mountains of West Virginia .

That's a log skidder. Chains are on all year long. Gives it traction, so you don't lose traction when you need it most. I used to put my chains on when I was logging and took them off when I was farming. Mine was a John Deere 850 compact tractor, multi-use 4x4.

So it is a small logging operation on flat ground. The 4 large wheel rig is called a "Skidder" usually used on flat ground with smaller logs like the Pine trees their logging. Just a note for your viewers that don't know. During rain 🌧 or melting snow they cannot run the operation without scarring the ground. So their season is just during dry times but if the humidity drops to much they will be shut down do to forest fire conditions. 🔥

@@MandyWaller-xw9wj never met a scorpion or a rattlesnake for that matter while living there. And believe it or not I camped, rock hounded, and hiked regularly. I heard through word of mouth that new construction in Queens Creek had infestation of scorpions because they were poorly built but I always wondered if it was truly happening or was it exaggerated rumors from a dissatisfied buyer. I only met a couple of people who claim they have saw a scorpion and only one person who saw a rattlesnake because it's a scary thing that I asked. Logging does several things. Most ponderosa pine around the Flagstaff area is thick. Logging reduces the basal area, takes some of the growth out and transfers the remaining resources to the remaining trees. Yes it reduces fuels loading. But also ponderosa pine is an even age stand. It doesn't sprout under a canopy. Therefore it's shade intolerant. When you open up the canopy, you allow sunlight to hit the forest floor and get a new age class growing. In 20-30 years, you can come back and remove the overstory canopy. If you don't actively manage a forest and keep it healthy, the forest becomes less resilient, over mature, less vigorous, more susceptible to beetle kill, and a greater fire hazard. The logs removed become useful wood products. The openings not only encourage new trees to grow, but also grasses and forbs necessary for wildlife forage.
