I too was a misfit, and after a career in oncology, became a woodcarver and have a woodworking shop. I am in the planning stages for my she shed as a 70 th birthday present to myself. The first tree house, with the tree running through the house, was great for my 3boys, (complete with skylight, trap door, stained glass, electrical outlet, veranda, glass and screen windows and door into the wall furniture) but due to age, had to be taken down, except for saving the sunken posts support. You have given me the kick to seriously get planning. Nicely done! Thank you.

What an amazing job you did. I like when you said only yourself can stop your dreams. I am so guilty of that. Was always told by my mom and sister what a idiot I was. My dad was the one who believed in me. Then I married and he was just like my mom and sister. Everything I said was wrong. When I went to college he thought it was a waste of time. But he was wrong I was on the deans list, after he passed a month after I started my last classes. Only problem was the money was tied up and I couldn’t pay for the fall and spring semesters. The college gave me the money for all my expenses and I didn’t have to pay back. I was honored with 3 other ladies as the best of the Early Childhood Program. I continued working and became the assistant director of a large center with around 125 kids enrolled. Then was hired by another center for the summer and another for my last 3 years before retiring. All because I believed in what I was doing. To bad it didn’t transfer into my home life. But watching you I have done a few things that I couldn’t have done before. Can’t wait to see the interior of your she shed.

Woman strong!! I am like you..I am 64 years young. I have built so many things in my life..nothing quite as big as your little house, but chicken houses, cabinets , furniture..I love my tools. When I married my husband I told him..no jewelry for me, I want power tools. He has not failed me. I love that more women are learning these skills. As a woman who is in the midst of creating my dream workshop, I am always drawn to other women builders and makers! Congrats on the full build! I had the concrete pad poured, and the building setup, but I did the electrical run to the house, and ran all the interior electrical (with a Master Electrician tie into the main panel, and mentorship). I am nearly done with the insulation, and some mass loaded vinyl for vapor barrier and sound proofing. Being in New England means several months of it being just too cold to want to work out there, but a great time to see other's ideas! Thanks for a fabulous message of getting out there and TRYING! You are AMAZING!
