However, whether or not she realizes it, the whole “White expectations” comment is actually insulting, demeaning, and smacks of a belief in White superiority. To classify things that are positive as being exclusively White, is to basically say that anything that isn’t White, typically isn’t good, except by happenstance. I can imagine never quite being seen as the other half can make one feel like they’ve grown up as only one. I also think that society sees her as Black. When I think of Barack Obama, Boris Kudjoe, Mariah Carey, Halle Berry, etc., society sees them as Black. I would say leave Colorado for a sec. Go and experience black folk in the major US cities we are known to be and are thriving in. First she'll find we're not a monolith. Second, she should experience groupings of black folk "in their native habitats 😂" to get a feel of her tribe she belongs.
