Prelit trees are pretty... until the lights don't work anymore. Ever taken those lights off? Not fun. lol I rescued a prelit tree from a curb because it looked brand new. I discovered why the previous owner decided to trash it instead of replacing the lights; each branch had clips to hold the lights in place that took pliers to get them off. Plastic clips! I eventually got them off but, it took a while. I just thought you and others might want to know the potential problem with prelit trees. How about a real one that you can plant later in your yard? We bought our first house and the previous owners did that and the back of the yard had all the trees they planted every year. Balsam Hill makes some of the most realistic pre-lit Christmas trees(up to 30 feet). Easy to setup and take down. I personally have a seven foot tree that is 3 years old and still looks brand new with no broken branches or lights that don't work. Also get the light setup where you can choose multi-color or plain white that way each year you have a choice.

I’m with Shilo, we decorate before Thanksgiving so we can enjoy them longer. A real tree doesn’t last as long and is messier. Sams and probably Costco should have what you want in trees. Hobby lobby is more expensive, but look around and find what is good for you. ❤️❤️❤️

Anyway; here's a thought.... If you get an artificial one you can also redecorate the tree with each holiday theme ( that's if you celebrate other holidays ......examples: pumkins and skeletons, etc for Halloween, plastic eggs and pastel colors etc for Easter, hearts and floral etc for Valentine's day (you get the idea) etc etc. Oh yeah, forgot we always had two trees.....one for the decorations and lights, the other for edible (mostly handmade) treats....it was always fun to invite people in just to see the both of them since most never heard of an edible one.😉 Continuing blessings to you all! #1- Thank you for posting your recipe = very kind of you. Main topic, trees, == you have a big, gorgeous, spacious house that could surely withstand Two More Christmas trees. One for each of you. Problem solved. There are people who enjoy Christmas trees sooo much, that they have one in every room. Even read of a lady who hung them upsidedown from the ceiling and decorated that way too. 💖Christmas is such a Special time of the year (especially if you have children), anything you can do to have less conflict, & more compromise, only sweetens the season.💝 You could even make them "themed trees", or, compete (nicely) on the decorations of each, or, team up with one child each for decorating them. Who knows, you could start a new family tradition to be carried on for years, possibly generations. Whatever you choose, please always keep in the forefront of your mind, it's only about sharing "gifts of love" to begin with (like the greatest gift we all received), so leave the stress out & keep it happy. When I had my kids at home we made it a tradition that on Thanksgiving we decorated the tree together and talked about what we were thankful for. My kids are all grown and in different states now. I miss those days. Big big tree, what ever momma wants.

Balsam Hill, Puleo, Treetopia, & Joss&Main are all good brands for Pre-lighted Artificial trees! Yes I'm with Shiloh for the fake tree for the main tree. Real Boughs or a small tree for the smell since that can be replaced and used around other areas! Amazon is a good place for trees but some of the manufactures have websites where they sell direct.

I love the smell of real trees. I decorated my house inside and out for 20 years before I stopped. I had cathedral ceilings so my trees were very tall. I’m with Al. Real tree is better.

When you live in the South and it's still pretty warm, by the time real Christmas trees arrive in your area, they're already starting to dry out. They rapidly become a shedding, fire hazard. Let Shiloh get a tall artificial tree that's pre-lit and easy to put together in three or four sections. It will last for years. Get one that the lights can change colors, and you can select the mode you prefer (I love twinkling lights). Good luck!

Why can't you have both? Why can't you plant a beautiful cedar tree somewhere and decorate it. Then have the beautiful pre-lit trees from Balsam Hill trees. They are gorgeous and they last for years and years. Easy set up. They are pricey, but if you buy a cheap tree every two to three years you could have paid for a balsam hill tree. Hope I helped. I’m with Al, you can’t beat a real tree, preferably a beautiful Balsam Fir. The smell is wonderful! I don’t think trees or decorations should go up until after Thanksgiving myself. Thanksgiving to me is a time for taking time to be thankful for what we’ve been blessed with. Christmas before then fades Thanksgiving out. I do understand Shilo wanting a pre-lit artificial tree, much care has to be given to a real tree, if not they are a fire hazard and they can be messy for carpet. Real trees are magical though. Have one of each! Made me hungry for spaghetti. I’ve never thought of putting Pesto in mine. I’ll try it! Al, your painting projects are sprucing (pun intended) up y’all’s new home, looks nice. Always had real trees growing up. Big needle mess. My Mom always decorated early and left it till New Years. Trees don’t last even watered daily. I like the smell of real but not the mess. Go fake, but get melting wax/candles to get the fresh pine smell for Xmas.

I vote for artificial tree, having had both. The mess of the real tree was a royal headache; even the short balsam needles were a bear to vacuum 😖 And though you need to store an artificial tree, a real tree is pricey AND needs to be purchased EVERY YEAR!! Doesn’t take long for the artificial tree to save you money 😉! I shopped second hand stores until I found a NICE artificial tree; there were more of the taller ones available to choose from and better quality. Weird, but probably ones from public events that were a once-and-done thing. And not many homeowners have the height for the taller ones. Just a thought. Personally, I wire everything solid to my artificial 7’ tree and just get help to move it, intact, to the upper storage area (half story attic) Then I don’t have to redecorate it each year, a task I’m not really a fan of. I cover it with old flat sheets so it doesn’t get dusty 😉! It was the kids who liked decorating, but I always had to take the tree down-solo😵‍💫😖! I dislike that more than the decorating! There’s candles, air fresheners etc for the smell. Or buy a real wreath; that will give you the scent and won’t have as much mess. The live tree in the yard is a good idea, too; but remember that it’ll grow and get too tall for complete decoration in several years. Well, unless you leave the lights on it or rent a lift of some sort hahaha! So, that’s my 3 cents’ worth (inflation haha!)
