I used to work for a dental office and the dentist would pay 50.00 to a lab for making crowns, and she would charge 750.00 to the insurance company. So it’s not always the insurance companies that is the issue. I don’t like them either, but these dentists and doctors overcharge insurance companies all the time. Why is this so hard for people to understand? The best way to deal with a bad business practice is to sue the company, not murder an employee. First, murdering people in cold blood is wrong, second, most CEOs are just employees. Way over paid employees, but just that employees. That CEO could have very well been a decent person, it isn't like he could have snapped his fingers and fixed health care he is subject to whatever the board wants. Shit is complicated, but people would rather join lynch mob than use basic critical thinking skills.

What I hate is that people don't understand the reason claims get rejected the VAST majority of the time is because DOCTORS BILL IT WRONG TO THE INSURANCE COMPANY. I worked in medical billing for a long time, and as evil as insurance companies can be, doctors are far greedier and far more willing to fuck over their clients because the system of codes they use is an overly complex system and often has such specific dumb rules that it's extremely difficult to figure out how to bill certain things, even as a medical lab biller. People NEED to be blaming doctors more, not insurance companies.

You mean medical coding? I have a friend who recently got her medical coding cert and her first job was at a call center for one of these health companies. She said she was one of the few who would look up the code based on what the patient described, would tell the person the code the doctor put in, and that they needed to go back to their doctor because the code was wrong. The issue of course is most people at these call centers don't have any training in medical coding.

last year i purchased a insurance policy for 400 dollars a month and cancelled it a week later cause they refused to cover my medications after promising me they would cover them when i purchased the insurance. they gave me the run around for a week and they had a 30 day refund policy that shpuld had given me my money back if they didnt pay out for anything, which they didnt.... so when i inquired on my refund, they refused to give me my money back because my pharmacy "attempted" to put through my medication that they refused to cover. so i had paid 400 dollars for insurance that i had for a week and they never paid out a Penny for anything. i was so pissed that i was basicallly scammed out of 400 dollars by this insurance company. the name of the insurance company was better health.

There's a large number of people on the "eat the rich" side that don't carry any exceptions, which I feel on paper isn't the worst thing. But then the mentality doesn't create distinction for parties of "the rich" like Dolly Parton, whose done a lot of legitimately excellent things with the position she's in. Or in instances like the case you brought up, where the parties in question aren't "the rich", those other parties recieveing those threats are the middle class. So the mentality ends up morphing into "eat everyone that isn't the lowest class in the country", which doesn't help jack squat.

@iloveyoushima it means you have the right to literally say anything your heart desires too, that does not mean it puts you in a bubble of protection from someone coming up and punching you in the face if you use your freedom of speech to threaten violence on them or if you call them slurs etc. You're allowed to say whatever you want - doesn't stop people from disagreeing and taking action against you for the things you've said but nobody can stop you from using your voice, you just may have unexpected or expected consequences if people disagree with the things you've said.

I said having the freedom of speech to say whatever you want doesn't mean someone else doesn't have the ability to react in any way that they choose too to whatever it is you've said, whether they react with violence, firing you from your job, cutting you out of their life etc those are all examples of consequences of someone disagreeing with what's been said to them. Doesn't make it right and doesn't mean everyone will react the same way but in no way does that mean you don't have the freedom to say whatever it is you like, it just means there's sometimes consequences to saying things someone may not like!

I have insurance and due to my income I was paying 0 in premiums. I do have a deductible I have to meet and copay. Starting next week I'm switching positions. A much needed increase in pay of course. So as a responsible adult, I went to Marketplace to update my income. They give me a list of insurance and premiums to choose from. The cheapest costing, monthly might I add, about what I will be making in 1 week before taxes. 1/4 of my gross (which i always thought was bullshit cause who tf lives off gross). So, in conclusion, I will be going without medical insurance until April when my job has open enrollment

I am constantly amazed at the people who think they can run off at the mouth at will. We're all idolated in our weird bubbles thinking nobody else is going to react. Just for clarity: you don't have to love CEOs, or people in the healthcare industry in general, or politicians of any stripe, but they are people, like you. They were born and raised by parents, went through school, made their life and work choices and made their money. Maybe you hate their choices, maybe they have made decisions that affect you. The fact that they are charging her isn't what worries me, it's the charges and punishment for what was dumb but hardly direct enough to warrant them. This will probably be settled for something less but still used as an example, especially since they said "because of the current climate". Regardless of the president, the past 30 years have given us alot of police state laws that i fear alot of modern activists will end up triggering, fostering that long feared apathy about it from the rest of society that will see it as justified without a care. I say this as someone who used to be an activist but saw how activism has become something entirely different and warped nowadays into pseudo-politics.
