Check the blade roller guide alignment. If it's off, it puts extra stress on the blade. The book will probably say to check it every 1500 hours or something, but if you ever saw something big enough to bump against the bark, there's a good chance the alignment is off which can lead to blade breakage.
@BigDaddyOworkshop
@BigDaddyOworkshop Жыл бұрын
when sharpening blades, keep the gullet as rounded as possible, any sharp angles will be a fracture point. that goes for most anything made of metal that is stressed.
@reggiedaniels6920

Hey, Greg, I noticed this the other day while watching another of your milling videos. There is a lot of castoff shavings on the track rail for the mill and every time the wheels roll over that debris, the blade is pushed up. Therefore you can't get a straight even cut in anything that you are milling. Just an FYI: You might start milling by cleaning the rails off first each session and you'd probably get cuts that are more even.

What you really need is a grapple to fit on the front end of the tractor in place of the bucket, you'd be a lot safer with better control of the logs. And yes Mitchygoss did use a broken saw blade around the window in the shed door behind the cabin on the cliff.

I personally have found it best to wear the least amount of clothing when working with heavy equipment and large logs. Especially foot wear, always make sure your toes are exposed or at least can breathe properly through your canvas shoes. Having said that, I do believe that your bride was properly dressed for moving the logs. If Nothing else but to remind you that you did good in the partner lottery. Stay strong you two. It is good to see a couple working together.

I'd like to encourage you to get forks for the front bucket if you can afford them. Especially when you are carrying a heavy load you want it as low as possible to avoid the tractor tipping. It will make it safer to pick up the logs, when you have to roll them into the bucket there is a good chance it may roll back on your legs.
