Few women were wearing these clothes even in the 50s, because they were so prohibitively expensive only the wealthy could hope to afford them. Haute couture might have been far more attractive 70 years ago, but it was no more affordable than it is today.

@@louislamonte334 They really did. And back then, even knock-offs were made to last, unlike the garbage sold today. I swear even clothes made with natural fibers like cotton have gone down sharply in quality in the last thirty years, and in the last decade especially.
