I LOVE that since I’ve stopped dying my hair and let my natural hair grow in over the past two years, keeping it long by trimming the dyed bits from the bottom periodically, that my gray is hair has grown in looking purposeful. I have mostly salt and pepper that appears like heavy highlights, a natural white “money piece” at my part and strips of white on the temple, underside and around each ear so whenever I wear a baseball cap, that is prominent. I really really love my gray hair now.

Had to share my happiness for you. I cut mine completely off twelve years ago for the same reason. Now I'm on year four with silver highlights framing and down my back. I use purple shampoo once a month to pull any red from my hair as I used to have brunette tones and the sun brings them back. Happy natural, we earned it

@hair-buddha just got lucky that My mom's bestie also created his own hair products for his salon in the 80s. He did my 1st spiral perm. When I was 14. He would spray your hair down with vinegar, and WASH my hair again after perm. Never had stinky chemical hair!! Nothing like a very tall beautiful slender gay black man to tell me as a little girl, he would slap me upside my head if I EVER touched a box of dye!!!

I have about a 4-5 naturally. I did 2 bleach washes and it got light enough to have a super bright medium purple. Seems I may have just gotten lucky. I did add an anti-red thingy “technical term”.

Honestly I'm not mad at the purple and rose gold color - it's definitely a look I'd do. Unfortunately the uneven bleaching makes it look pretty bad. If she could blend purple roots into rose gold or vice versa it would look better but it's too patchy right now.
