@@jbradhicks Not quite. Stevonnie, like all the fusions sans Malachite, has their own voice actress (AJ Michalka). What happens is that, when their fusion is unstable, AJ will emulate Steven's or Connie's voices depending on who is speaking. This is very similar to how Estelle emulates Ruby or Sapphire whenever they're arguing with each other while fused as Garnet. The fusions' voice actresses basically had to practice talking as the other characters in order to convey that they're literally arguing with themselves. Even Sardonyx does it, though it's harder to tell with her since there's *three* fusees instead of the usual two. Malachite, on the other hand, does not have her own voice at all, demonstrating how incompatible Jasper and Lapis are as a fusion. They were never truly one, instead they were constantly fighting each other for dominance within a shared prison of their own making.

Yeah exactly relationships come in SO MANY different forms. Even two romantic or platonic relationships can be wildly different. Hell even some as universal as paternal and maternal relationships can vary greatly and I love how that's reflected in every different fusions design. Rebecca sugar even said that while an unrelated ruby and Sapphire would make ANOTHER garnet, it would still look very different from the garnet we know. How different is still unknown but we've seen pretty much every gem change clothes when they rematerialize so they could look incredibly different at least in THAT way lol

underappreciated heartbreaking line: Greg begging Steven to be careful, or he's "gonna run fresh out of family". the jokey-joke structure masking a metric load of unspoken anxiety and powerlessness to prevent a repeated tragedy. Greg does a good job of more-or-less accepting that Rose is gone in the present day, but his good nature and humor hide what must've been a long and painful grieving. so when those wounds threaten to reopen...very real, very raw, I tear up every time. it'll hurt all the more when Greg gets randomly selected for Gem Experimentation in Season 2, becoming a Forced Gem-human, and starts antagonizing the Crystal Gems as a masked soldier, but we don't find out it's him until later because Steven just thinks his dad's on a road trip. incredible stuff, unbelievable

You had it right that their fusion looked so... ungainly because they have an unhealthy relationship. Which is also why Garnet only has one extra eye. It is also why Alexandrite has an extra face and 3 pairs of arms. The more personalities you add to a fusion and the less in-sync they are, the more they spill out of a humanoid form. This is the type of story telling I love the most. Things that aren't explicitly spelled out, but both make sense in retrospect and also give you insight into how things work going forward.

Spoiler - Jasper is actually a fusion as well! The gem on her nose can split into two smaller gems, which in turn makes up Jasper! Hence why that fusion with Lapis has arms instead of feet. Also, the fusion with Lapis is called Bob, just throwing that out there

watching steven universe as it came out as a kid changed me, honestly the show has some amazing messages and the songs were my anchor for a lot of things. I had a difficult home life, but this show kept me level headed, and this is something ill always have with me, no matter how much time passes, this show has and always will have a special place in my heart. The confrontation between Steven and Jasper in the Return is low key so heart shattering. Jasper defaults to ‘Rose’ as the leader she apparently respected and not giving the other gems the time of day. Steven asks to be treated like a crystal gem and immediately faces the worst aspects of it.

At last one of the biggest questions for Mosco has FINALLY been answered, folks! Loved these reactions to both these episodes, especially Jailbreak and the reveal of Garnet being a fusion of Ruby *and* Sapphire! That's one of my favorite and most memorable moments of the whole so, and hearing Elijahs' comments and excited energy offscreen after the reveal was everything!

The Fusion which the credits reveal as Malachite is just of 2 individual Gems that are their own being, they provide the two pairs of Legs but they're built like Muscular Arms which is unique, the official artwork online shows they can act legit like real Arms when they can and Malachite has one front one have hand on the ground and another in front like a lifted arms bent & turned around with hand out as her upper arms are out with palms up at the side and her seemingly laughing. Malachite was and still is my favorite Fusion from this show.

"Made of Love" is one of my two absolute favorite banger songs to come from this show. The other one is such a powerful message about dealing with guilt and anxiety. Won't name it so early, though as I can't think of a fake spoiler to tag onto it.
