I literally discovered Lili Boulanger when someone mentioned her in the comments of your last video and I was blown away. I've listened to this piece, Vieille prière bouddhique, D'un soir triste, Hymne au soleil, Les Sirènes and Psalm 24 and all of them are so stunningly beautiful that I can't believe I had never heard of this composer before.

You know, I never thought much about this before, but it's really hard to think of any well-known female composers from any time earlier than the late nineteenth century. I can name female authors, scientists, and academics from earlier than that, and female heads of state running so far back in history it starts turning into archeology; but not composers, for some reason. I'm sure there must have BEEN some... Why do we never hear of them?
