Great review! I love the new American Gardens! It's one of those products that looks better the longer it's my hair and that rarely ever happens. My hair feels softer after a while too which is interesting. Amity is great too! I used it together last time

Tim Lin it’s actually a healthy shine for me. Like a notch or two above neutral. I’m honestly not sure why Francisco calls it “matte”? But it’s a top 3 product for me. Their La Mano Peluda might actually have less shine though.

I got AG a month ago. The hold is pretty good and if you apply to damp hair you get a natural/dry sheen. If I put it in dry hair, it’s so dry that it ends up tugging and pulling at my hair. I ordered Moroccan Oil clay, going to compare with that.

I have the same volume loss with American Gardens. It's very dry and my hair stays in roughly the same shape, just a little deflated within an hour of application. After that, it stays the same the entire day. I also think that Zach from Shear Revival mostly doesn't care about the pomade vs. styling clay distinction, since so many contradictory products exist for each category.
@MMTV4 жыл бұрын
It’s true there are contradictory ones out there and like I said I would have done the same in his position being as AG is such a widely known and loved clay. I’m just doing my part to try and get us to a point where the lines between clay and clay pomade are more defined. They absolutely should be imo because they both can offer very cool and different things.

With my thick and dry hair, I’m afraid to use American Gardens as northern lights already puts a whoopin on me haha (I did watch the review in full, I’m just saying products always tug at me way more than they do in yours or TDM style is all). My dauntless grooming oil is coming in from lockharts sometime in the next week or two hopefully so I’m hoping hair tonics will take the grip factor a notch down. Been messing around with salon guy pure set and I think that has been helping with the tug somewhat.

@anhduy20254 жыл бұрын
Love the vid mike. Anyway can u tell me the differences between a clay and a clay pomade
@MMTV4 жыл бұрын
Clays generally have a matte finish and utilize the clays to perform their natural functions, which are to provide said matte finish, make dry texture, and volume. They can also provide some extra hold too and other things but that’s mainly the points of a clay. Clay pomades now on the other hand aren’t restricted to those attributes. They can blend the lines a little bit if they choose to. They can have a little texture, with a little gleam. They can have dryness with some shine. I basically look at it as clays are matte and clay pomades have some shine. Does that describe every single clay pomade? No but it does describe a lot of them. Look at the original American Gardens for example, it had a little shine to it but it also had some good texture and volume. Hope that helps.

So the AG has the same hold as NL? (Firm)
@MMTV Жыл бұрын
They both maybe listed as firm but they can present in different ways. Gardens has a more oily presentation as it’s an OB clay for example. That’s why I always refer folks to the visual examples- I think those can often times tell more than trying to compare them based on verbiage.
@IvanRodriguez-fo1hf3 жыл бұрын
Hi Mike, I'm looking to try something new. I find that Suavecito clay pomade is a little too oily for me and Lockhart's Transcend clay is on a different spectrum, but almost to sticky feeling for me. I'm looking for good volume and good hold without being too stiff. I'm open to suggestions. What would you recommend I try?
