I follow Cammy and you both. It's awesome seeing you two in the same video. I appreciate your assessment of these sheep and their wool, it's a perspective others haven't shared. It's fascinating to watch and learn about something completely out of the realm of my life. You do a great job of explaining all the aspects of shearing different types of sheep (and other animals) and how their fleece differs from each other.

I like the explanations and in depth. Just an animal lover, crochet and an old timer who grew up with the lanolin gold. We used to use it for most things before there was petroleum jelly available for cheap. Keep up the information sharing and both of you stay healthy. God bless.

Quite a challenge it looks like! The timing of needing to shear all those sheep must really put extra pressure on farmers there! Now I understand more why they have those portable set-ups and whole teams of shearers come, aside from how the wool is handled.

I'd like to take a moment to say/type how much I appreciate your in-depth knowledge of your craft. Mine goes underappreciated way too often. 41 year construction worker/journeyman. Master carpenter, master roofer (not just a shingler that calls himself a roofer), master residential everything, but, masonry & concrete. Journeyman commercial carpenter, steel stud framing, acoustical ceilings, not much else there though, except, commercial roofing, as a master roofer should know too. I've heard you spit a bit of knowledge here and there, but, you took a pretty deep dive this time...thank you! 🙏👍😎

Dear Katie, we call the Scottish wool "medium" not coarse 😃. For a British wool to be coarse, you need to try our White Welsh mountain or Torddu (preferably rams' fleeces) or something like Rough fell- now that's wool that will make your hands tickle! The Blackie wool is a joy to spin and knit with. Traditionally used to make tweed cloth, this wool is still in demand by hand-spinners all across the UK.

I had a couple of q's from watching your vids... * Just curious why you don't need to wear goggles or a mask to prevent breathing in all the dust, dirt & fiber particles or getting them into your eyes & mouth? Doesn't it get to you after awhile & do you sneeze all day? * And, this might be an odd q, but I'm a city girl... do animals smell less once their blanket is removed or does the skin have oils that still give it a ripe aroma? * Lastly, when there's a lot of dirt left after sheering, why do you not brush the animals or do you? And, if you nick them during sheering, does it bleed & do you treat that cut with antibiotic cream? TY. Love watching your smiles & your work.
