Loved the drone footage. Beautiful countryside and fascinating to watch the different patterns the sheep made as they ran hither and yon. Saw a moon almost rise 😳 but the camera cut away. I also enjoyed watching the dalmatian spots show up as you were shearing in the head shots. Wonderful music throughout, Cammy.

Cheers Nick. I should have spent some time filming it. It’s basically a hydraulic presss that packs the wool in to square bales much heavier than normal bags. Means less bags to store / transport and when u have 9000 sheep that’s handy!

Here in the UK, they do like you to put the belly wool in the fleece it shows a complete fleece when being graded at the depot.

Are you paid the same rate no matter the breed or does each breed have its own rate? Are you paid travel expenses? How long is the shearing season? Not to give away your trade secrets can you give me an amount you receive for shearing an average lamb, if you put it in pounds will you equate it to US dollars! Hi Colleen, Let me try and answer them. So we charge around $2 per sheep. Double for rams. No travel expenses that's just covered by the contractor who pays the shearers around $1.70 per sheep. Lambs will be around 15 cents less than ewes as it's a quieter time of year when we do them. Shearing season in Scotland is June - Mid August.

Hi, I personally don't have back problems but I know some people. The boy I shear with most days is 52 and he beats me every day so he would say it's a career for life. U need to keep fit and flexible in the off season I think that's key.
