Got myself the Shearwater Peregrine. It’s the best value for money for an entry-level recreational scuba diver. Plus it’s designed and manufactured in Canada. And to be specific, it’s headquartered in my home city of Richmond, British Columbia.😊❤

Yesterday I ordered my first set of dive gear from Divers Supply. From the Edge Hog TBC bcd...to a bunch of other miscellaneous items. I also ordered the new Perigine computer. I had the pleasure of dealing with Jerry on the phone...and he walked me through the whole thing. Another great video by you...great information!

Thanks for getting to the point and using editing to keep the video shorter and not waste time, and keeping it in focus! Can you compare the Peregrine to the Deepblu Cosmiq, especially for brightness on a shallow dive? Do you know if the Peregrine will interface with the Deepblu app like some of the Shearwater computers do? The Shearwater Cloud app seems to have a lot of 1-2 star reviews. Great video!

I am seriously considering the Shearwater Peregrine. I currently use an AquaLung i200 and it's nice and simple enough especially easy to wear because it's a watch style computer but as I get older, the black and gray display becomes harder to see. Thanks Bob for the great videos!

@@DiversSupplyYT so, I wear my main computer on my left because it is the hand that holds my deflator and as I am looking up as I assend up, I see it naturally without having to hold up my right hand also. It just feels more natural to me.
@DiversSupplyYT
@DiversSupplyYT 2 жыл бұрын
@@richadcock70 and this is usually the confusion. "Most" right handed people wear their watches, therefore computers on their left wrist.... and on the "outside" of their wrist, not the inside. So when you hold your inflator up during ascent ( which most divers get lazy about ) Your watch/computer is now facing out away from you. The proper ascent position is both hands up, like Superman, left hand up holding the inflator/deflator. The right hand is up protecting your face and head with palm up, which means your right wrist is down toward your eyes. If the right hand is "UP" you can see your dive buddy in front of you, you can glance up to see what's above you AND see your computer. IF you have not had the pleasure of swimming into Jellyfish or PMoW tentacles with your face, (as I did in 1971 off the coast of Greece) you WILL remember the proper Superman ascent for the rest of your life. And this is a perfect subject for my next video ! May I use you name and comment here ? Bob

I did a ton of research (including talking to be experienced diving friends) before I bought my Shearwater Perdix AI and came to the conclusion that the only really choice (for me) was Shearwater. If I wasn't so insistent on air integration, I'd have really considered the Peregrine. I've been completely satisfied with my Perdix and don't see that I'd really ever need more unless I went CCR (which is probably not until I hit the lottery, which I'm not playing).
@DiversSupplyYT
@DiversSupplyYT 3 жыл бұрын
Great thoughts Kevin, if AI is important then only Perdix or Teric but if not Peregrine...
@laminar0886
@laminar0886 3 жыл бұрын
I firmly disagreed with people that said the Teric was too much computer for REC divers - couldn’t disagree more. The reason I saved and bought one was because I think it’s the best overall “feature per price” of any computer out there. Even if I never learn to TEC dive, the Teric is still a fantastic option for any diver. With that said, the Peregrine is a wonderful Shearwater product for those divers in that price point. Congrats to Shearwater and anyone who purchased a Peregrine as well.
@DiversSupplyYT
@DiversSupplyYT 3 жыл бұрын
Not sure who "people" are but when you have features that include Trimix/CCR that will never be used, then I'd have to say people can spend their/your money any way they/you want. The Peregrine is not as overall (during/after) wrist friendly as the Teric, but in reality is cost (half) friendly and for many easier to see.

Couldn't decide whether to get the Atmos Mission One or Shearwater Peregrine. Since both are similarly priced, which one would you choose?
@DiversSupplyYT
@DiversSupplyYT 3 жыл бұрын
Roy, here the way I look at it, if you want easy to see U/W of course the SWP is the way to go, if wear-ability, ease of use and couple of smart watch capabilities are important go ATMOS M-1. I own both, teach wearing the Atmos and fun dive with the SWP.

I'm purely a rec diver. Although I would love to have the ultimate dive computer which is the Shearwater Perdix Ai, it would be pointless at this point for me to invest in advanced features like tec mode etc, when I know that I'll never ever be using these. Bit of an overkill for rec divers who would never get into tec dive, cave dive etc I would say. Besides tec dives are an expensive affair too unlike the normal air / nitrox dives atleast for me. I'd never rely on AI transmitter (what if the transmitter fails or no battery), more than happy to rely on the SPG. As for Digital compass, I don't use that for my rec dives as most rec dives I do would be with a dive centre and there are dedicated staffs taking you on the dives and navigating you through the dives. If ever I need a compass, Ill strap on separate compass or rent one. While Ai and compass features are good to have on the Peregrine model, it isn't still something that will or should deter me / any rec diver from buying this. Shearwater peregrine is purely intended for rec divers and this is all that a rec diver can ask for noting the reliability, price, simplicity, quality, after sale customer service of Shearwater products. And Besides almost all divers recommended the Shearwater brand considering these points mentioned above. And if at some point in time should I decide to go tec diving , i would only then think about investing in something like the perdix ai or the teric. But that for would be like years from now for me before I decide on that and by that time Shearwater probably will have come out with newer advanced models. This was a great video review and content is very useful and purely concentrated to recreational divers new and advanced levels. Thank you for the review , it was very informative and useful in helping me get my first dive computer I.e. Shearwater Peregrine.

Byju, You are spot on with your comments. The mass majority of Recreational divers don't "need" a Perdix BUT it's easy to see with those great colors and AI can be nifty... The Peregrine is a excellent choice that's more $ friendly and super easy to operate. Thanks for your comments, always appreciated. Bob C

Hi John, You know I sold one of these earlier today and the compass discussion did come up. For me and the gentleman that made the buy, it comes down to what we are accustom to, Normal Compass on a clip-on retractor. But hey you can wish for one... no harm in that.
