This man's vocal range is just unreal. He can get down in the low bass notes and stay there. Plus he can also sing the upper notes!!! A very special singer -Talent & a lot of hard work.... The man is special..... I love it. Good job pretty lady.

To be remembered, Burl Ives is credited with the first GHOST RIDERS cover, in 1948, We all have our favorite singers for this one, but Carl Sandburg named Ives as "This mighty balladeer". He recorded with one simple guitar, long before recording studio gimmicks, and his purity marks his place among the legends.

I missed out seeing this MV when it first dropped, I saw it about five days later. I LOVE it. It is stuck in my head, I still wake up with it playing in my head because I keep watching people react to it. It's really an awesome cover! This song has been around since at least some time in the 1960's and even Johnny Cash covered it. Geoff did AMAZING here, as he normally does. He doesn't make any bad songs (or if he did, they never made it to the internet...). Keep in mind, as great as he is on his own, he is part of a group called VoicePlay. :)

Highly recommend another very surprising singer to react to -Angelina Jordan from Norway. Give a listen to the Vaughn Monroe original sometime, which was Ghost Herd in the Sky, 1949 I think. Johnny Cash covered it much later, and it's been Ghost Riders ever since. The original has parts which basically sound like yodeling, and oddly it's more up tempo than the covers have been (Johnny Cash version is ponderously slow). Thanks for doing this version, vocally fun!
@edwardmeade

My dad used to play the Vaughn Monroe version. He had that basso profundo voice as well. I also remember covers by Gene Autry, Eddy Arnold and Sons of the Pioneers that my dad used to play. Those were great but Monroe's was his favorite.

@@edwardmeade the song has a lot of history. Bing Crosby did a cover lol...and there are female vocal versions. Stan Jones (?) Wrote it in 48 or 49. I read it's been re-recorded professionally by other artists over a hundred times!

If you liked Ghost Riders you should absolutely check out his other Bass Singer Covers tracks. Blackbird was one of his best arrangements, but Sixteen Tons was probably the most popular. Geoff's voice is borderline inhuman. And if you think Geoff is amazing - which he absolutely is - you should also check out Tim Faust from Home Free. His subharmonics are stunning. Go listen to Man of Constant Sorrow. You won't regret it.

the VERY low voice IS possible it's called "subharmonics technics"! Jeff has mastered many technics, both vocal fry and subharmonics change the sound of his voice! After it's real that you need some "basic" tone of voice to rech some notes so with his low barriton type of voice it's possible to reach bass voice or deep bass even more using the goof tech! I'm far from his level but i can too use these tech both sub and fry and i to have a low type of voice i don't really know if i'm low barriton or "hight" bass but for exemple tom waits and joe cocker voices are "easy" to me! ( if you want to try jazz type low voice try tom waits even if you may had heard him from shrek 2 or from the walking deads!

Carlie, There is no denying that this is a talented singer with a broad range and impressive hair. However, I will not be silent on your denigrating your own talents and appearance. I seriously doubt that he just awakened, fed his dog and miraculously performed this song without polishing his skills and looks over years; if not decades. You have the talent and ability to accomplish success at a similar level if you refine your talents. I am nor claiming that you have the same skill set as him, just a talent set that will allow you equal ( or better) success. You are great on KZbin, have crafting ability, play keyboards and ukulele and have cognitive and psychological intelligence. Do not ever allow yourself to believe that you are less than anybody.

Geoff is amazing, can't say I liked this version of the song though. I've definitely heard better. It doesn't help that the mixing is a bit sub-par on the sound either. The accompaniment music is too loud and drowns out many of his harmonies, particularly those in the lower registers. He's also changed up the melody here and there, not sure i like his artistic choices.
