I will hang my "worn but not dirty clothes" inside out so I know it has been worn once. If there is a spot I will even just spot clean them sometimes (cuz I'd have to pretreat anyway). If your body is clean, there is no need to wash clothes after a few hours of wear. I love the Sandwich Rule! It is funny how our brains love balance.

Yes 🙌 I just don’t get the blazer trend. Maybe because I wore them in the 80’s and I think they’re too overwhelming and boxy. I’m also very feminine and don’t care for the look of the lapel. But if you can rock one, go for it!!!

Everything is spot on…except…for shorter women the “sandwich” rule is not my choice. I try to match my shoes to my pants. They don’t have to be perfect but, if the pants are dark, I wear dark shoes and if the pants are light I wear light shoes. Try not to cut off my legs prematurely 😊

Bermuda shorts are never out of style ❤ I have a gorgeous pair of red Ralph Lauren Bermuda shorts that pair gorgeous with white sneakers and basically any top I have a pair of black Bermuda shorts that i love to wear with a vintage short sleeve blouse, pearls ands black flats.

I can't believe cold shoulder tops are still around. When they came in style I didn't buy one even though they were everywhere and hard to avoid bc I was sure they would only be 1 season. Those things are still going strong in many communities! (And I never bought 1 no matter how long the trend kept going. )

The Sandwich Rule. My best friend and I started doing this way back in high school, but we didn't call it that. We did it as part of a point system, if you had too many or not enough points for your outfit, you added, subtracted, or changed something.

I don't overwash my clothing, especially fine knits or jeans!! I am not sweaty, so no issues with odors, etc. Hanging clothes outside in the breeze freshens garments up as well!

I'm not working right now & don't need nearly as many "office" clothes as in the past. When I went through my clothes to donate & thin out, I realized some had stains or residue from old deodorant. So! Now I have a system of putting clothes I will rewear to the left of a partition. When seasons change I'll wash before putting up so i don't have that happen again. I think I'm too OCD to have them hang inside out! Good idea but i don't think I could do it! 😅

I love the concealing weight mistake. My mother wore a coat (jacket) every single time she left the house. We live in Fl where its 85 degrees in Dec 🙄. I told her that it draws more attention to her weight. I always say "leggings are not pants" lol. Very few people can get away with wearing them as pants. I like them as long as the top is longer.

That blazer (12:45) is either genius or what I’d call a delightful whoops. I’m always super drawn to that print but can’t pull it off because it’s so aging (yes, no difference whatsoever from the floral on me). But seriously, even if you told me this was a “didn’t have enough fabric” by-product or something….WINNER!!! It’s not only classy/edgy but is also a super inexpensive/resourceful way of getting around the whole “pattern doesn’t line up” seam thing. So they don’t have to waste fabric and end up with a FAAAAAR better looking product than the full pattern version. Win win!👏👏👏

Totally agree on #5!! It makes me sad when I see someone trying to completely hide their figure just because of weight. There are definitely ways to look good no matter what size you are! And dressing well can positively affect both the way you feel about yourself, as well as how people respond to you. Everyone deserves to feel good in their clothes! As a size 12, I’m so glad you brought up the clown feet because I don’t even like the typical UGGS. 😂

I ended up with a bunch of scrunchies, but I have short hair. When I have worn something for a few hours and I am putting it back on the hanger, I drop one of the scrunchies on the neck of the hanger so that I remember it was worn before. I still inspect it for anything I may have missed and give it a quick steam if necessary before wearing it again. If I only wear for another hour or two, I repeat the process. I tend to wear comfy items around the house and if I go out, I will take off what I wore out and put them back on.

Hahaha...#1 is so me. I teach my son that as well. We have a lot of clothes, and dont wear them for a long length of time as we change (too) often!! If it still smells fresh they need and will get hung back up. I also hardly put anything in the dryer....even socks. I hang them dry and then throw them in the dryer to toss. I won't wear anything that looks old or has pills. I'm too OCD, I take my de-piller to my 13yr old socks for crying out loud. 🤦‍♀️

Great video, I am in agreement with each one! Leggings are not pants! Dont wear clown shoes, just because it’s in “style” it doesn’t mean it looks good on you. (I mean on me!) I used to love wearing blazers when I worked but now that I’m retired not so much for some reason! (Salty, I did buy the rose colored velvet one from Maurice’s for a Christmas outfit with a matching lace cami underneath and black velvet pants!) I am older but I still try to stay stylish! Oh. A lot of these are good tips, some of which I've already been utilizing. Like I do the sandwhich method now that my body shape is closer to an hourglass. Before when I was distinctly pear-shaped, I would always wear light and loose clothes on my upper body and tight and dark on my lower body. But now I switch it up, confused as to how make my outfits look more balanced lol. I've always been very keen about color matching, but since I know a lot about color theory, I do it without thinking nowadays. I always wear my clothes until they get stinky or stained. I have designated boxes and chairs by my bed for used but not yet dirty clothes, which is usually 2 or 3 outfits that I cycle between until they're dirty. I actually only do laundry once a month, but that's also because I have really a lot of clothes and only myself to take care of. I also don't hide all my weight. Only really try to not emphasize my stomach. Because the rest of me is kinda evenly chubby, and I'm not very overweight anyway, so it doesn't really bother me. I wear clothes that fit my size. I do wear jeans most of the time, but on occasion I wear skirts, shorts and other kinds of pants, at least in the summer. The only thing I'd disagree about is wearing outdated stuff. If you do it deliberately, I think that's just a style statement. Trends always come and go, and people can have styles that are only sometimes trendy. Like for example I've always preferred bootcut jeans. But they come and go in trends. Sometimes they're considered out, other times in, I can never keep up because I just don't care. I don't wear them to look trendy, I wear them because they're flattering for my shape. Same with a lot of other stuff that I just so happen to like.

I don’t dry my clothes or my husband’s in the dryer. Our clothes look pristine because I don’t use the dryer. Even some of our underwear don’t go in the dryer. But I’m a firm believer of washing most of our clothes after we wear them unless it’s a pair of jeans or a sweater. Then we can wear a second time unless we wore all day.

I’m an infrequent clothes washer too. Just hang them somewhere to air for a day before putting them back in the wardrobe. Try the open sandwich rule to make you look taller: two thirds one colour & 1/3 the 2nd colour. The 1/3 sandwich rule makes you look shorter cutting you into thirds. Match your shoes as closely as you can to your bottoms to make you look taller too. Wear a contrast shoe & everyone’s’ eyes look down to the ground pulling you down too. And no to the floral jacket. It overpowers you & distracts from your pretty face. (Plus it looks a little cheap.)

Regarding your neon blazer, since you are wearing black, I feel black enhances the neon more. If you plan on keeping that blazer then try pairing it with a more white - nude shade or pale - pastel shades. Maybe that can tone it down.. My dressing style is more subtle shades or bold but single color clothes. But when going out in bright sun like a garden or a beach, I feel like wearing such pretty neon shades.

I wouldn’t keep the floral blazer. I think a bold print like that would look better as a blouse or even skirt with a flattering cut. I think the oversized fit, shoulder pads, and the print is too much. I don’t think you’ll get enough use from it before you feel it looks dated.
