That bonnet flying up didn't cause the least panic! 😊Reminded me of when I was squeezing between a Merc and the Armco on a French autoroute; I was driving a Grinnall Scorpion 3, wearing a full face helmet as it was raining, and was doing an unmentionable speed, when I suddenly went 100% blind! I put a hand up to my face and what had happened was the turbulence in the car had whipped the black helmet bag up from the passenger footwell and stuck it right across the wet visor....very scary indeed.

Hello Ivan, had no idea you were doing these videos but someone at a car show told us about them. I've looked at a few now and they're bloody great. Used to love listening to you and my father in law Brian Hughes chatting at Beaulieu but that was only once a year. As you know Brian's gone on now and I miss the old car banter! Anyway....really enjoying your films and I'll end up most likely watching them all. Good luck.👍

Hello there Mr. Dutton, I've only just stumbled across your videos,and have enjoyed watching what you've posted. I'm currently in Japan, working for the US Army on Blackhawks, although I'm a sailor and retired from active duty where I worked on Seahawks. Anyway my parents immigrated to the states after WWII from London. You remind me of my Uncle, George Tufnell, he lived in Sudbury. He used to race stock cars in the 50's & into the 60's if I'm not mistaken. Later he was involved with stationary engines and antique cars, I remember seeing a very large Bentley and a small Triumph herald as a kid on vacation visiting in '76. He would make any part needed for them in his shed as he was also a very talented engineer and machinist like you guys. Again, it's refreshing seeing you guys solve the problems (without throwing your tools all over the place and having tantrums). Cj

I was shoulder shrugging up to the point where i heard 'he wouldn't give me the passwords'. If this is all properly represented then, yes, it's not cricket is it.. The big problem is that the snatchers and the grabbers are the ones who tend to succeed in big business. (They then have to buy friends because they don't have any real ones).The rest of us have to pedal harder if we're not prepared to be total and utter barstewards.

In 1983 I bought a '67 MGB with a Weber conversion and overdrive. I rebuilt the engine & had it balanced by the machine shop all the way out to the clutch pressure plate. Then drove it cross-country from Fresno, CA to South Carolina. The overdrive was wonderful. Wasn't a race engine, but pretty close. Ran beautifully & the was smoothest, most vibration-free MGB engine I ever saw. Sadly had to sell it for $1,400 (broke). Probably had less than 6,000 miles on that rebuilt engine. The teenager who bought it immediately totaled it. Somebody got a great MGB engine out of the salvage.

The new name is OK with me ,I'm sitting in my shed with my cars watching this anyway. There is no school like old-school when it comes to these old cars, all four of my cars have carbon throw out bearings and as long as you don't keep your foot on the clutch the last forever. Keep your foot on the gas. Cheers👍
@samrodian9192 жыл бұрын
Although nine months late, great to see you back Ivan! On the MGB clutch and your reason for going back to a carbon thrust bearing most later Morris /Austin motors had them fitted, certainly the Morris 1800 did as that's the basically the same engine as the 'B, my dad had a brand new Morris 1800 in 1966 ( I can still remember the registration number, LLX 591D) this had the carbon thrust bearing disintegrate at a set of traffic lights TWICE at the same set of lights, in Cambridge on the Trumpington Road within 18 months of buying the car. He sold it shortly after the second thrust bearing went as he was fed up of it by then. Apparently there was no sign of any wear on the clutch plate, just the carbon thrust exploding into a thousand pieces. Dad managed to drive the stricken car home to Hainault, ( the end of London's central line) only having to stop once and jamb it into first to get us rolling again! This of course was long before the M11 was built.

I too was puzzled by the various channel name changes etc. However, I now look forward to your new content. It really is a pity that the Ferrari content never got made, it really would have garnered a lot of views. So glad to see that you're well and still having fun tinkering, and you're so right, there is nothing quite like driving time to get better and learn your car, you can spend thousands on your car, but if you haven't had the seat time, you won't be in the top of the field, because they are all the guys that put the time in practising. Subscribed and annoyingly unsubscribed from Ivan's shed (there was some good videos in there) but I'm looking forward to your next video here.
