I'm so happy that you actually showed the hair that you shedded. It gave me a rough idea if my amount is something to worry about or not. I wish more curly hair influencers would show how much they shed as well. I rarely give thumbs up, but I did for this video.

First off, thank you for making a video regarding hair loss/shedding! Years ago, when I was in college, I got sick with mono and pneumonia and was hospitalized. I noticed a lot of shedding about 7-8 weeks later as I had an extremely high fever for about two weeks. Subsequently, it gave me thyroiditis because the infection had just affected everything. After all the fall stopped, I had lost about 45-50% of my hair density and it was awful. It took years to get my density back. I started noticing some after COVID started and I think the shedding was stress induced so I found the curlsmith scalp booster and density elixir and I have so many new hairs!!! I wish this would have been around in 2012, but it’s amazing that there are products that can actually make a difference for people!

I'm a guy trying to grow out my hair to donate it and it is SUPER curly. This hair world is super new to me. I was really concerned when I'd run my fingers through it and pull out what I thought was a small mammal. I'm glad to know I'm not going bald and just 'shedding.'

I was so worried that i have started losing more hair since I moved from a country that had soft water supply to hard water supply! But after this video I really realised that after all the product adjustments I made and embraced my curls and started a curly girl routine that I shouldn't be worrying about shedding! Thank you so much for showing how much hair we lose and an explanation ..

I started all 3 of these products at the same time you did! I have such low density hair you can see so much of my scalp (mostly due to hypothyroidism and Hashimoto's, I lost so much hair and it never came back). I've noticed a LOT of baby hairs coming in already that I have never seen before, so exciting! The only problem is the new hairs tend to stick straight up, making it look frizzy but I'm all for it if it means fuller, more dense hair! I am not even close to finishing the bottles in 30 days though, so maybe I'm not using enough. I can't wait to see your results after the 90 days :)

I also have to wash more frequently since I have fine thin hair and workout 4-5x a week! Currently taking collagen and working on changing my diet to see if I get any results!

I have lupus, and i have lost about 50% of my hair volume over the past 25 years of living with the disease. When i get a flare that attacks my hair, i do experience an increase in shedding. For about a year now, i have been on a journey of embracing and growing out my graying hair, and have also embraced my curls. This means no more coloring or using heat tools on my hair, except for a diffuser occasionally. I have also been using the Curlsmith products for about 6 months now. All these things combined have made a pretty significant difference in my hair; it is stronger and healthier, and also a bit more dense. I have been interested in trying the Curlsmith supplements and serums you mentioned in this video, and i'm excited to see the results.

I love your educational videos! I have a very similar curl pattern and density as you but I find that NO products hold my curls throughout the day (curl smith air dry cream, curl smith hydrostyle flex jelly, etc.). Very frustrating - but your videos help me find new ways to style and I’m hoping with time it can start looking better! Thank you!!!

I know I’m a week late- but wanted to add a note. Biotin is a b vitamin (B7)- I would never be able to sleep if I took it at night. If you are a person (like me) who is sensitive to that - you may lose sleep taking that supplement in the evening. This apparently doesn’t bother everyone the same way, but it definitely does me.

I’m experiencing hair shedding every time I touch my hair, the strands of hair just keep coming out, plus when I wash and brush my hair. I’ve been to three doctors and had my blood work done multiple times , no deficiencies. I also think I manage my stress well and my hair has been consistently shedding more than 150 strands a day for the past 3 years. My hair is no where as thick as it used to be. I’m not sure what to do anymore ….

I've always had hair come out when brushing in the shower, but what made me start worrying is when I continued to have a lot when putting product in AFTER the shower, as well as when putting my hair up throughout the day. I could just tell much more was falling out than normal. I have some thyroid issues so I believe it started with that, as well as going through a really rough time. I think it's getting better now, I'm trying to also be careful with shampoo because my hair is really dry and the shedding gets worse from shampoo even when it's a moisturizing kind. I have to use 2-in-1 or cowash more I think. I now also have a lot of frizzy short pieces around my crown, but I think that might be from new hair growing back (hopefully not hair breakage)

Thank you soooooo much for this video. I had covid and during my down time I could not care for my hair and it was dry and felt dead, was not able to wash it and I almost had dreads. It's been about 3 weeks post covid and my hair is dry, excessive shedding and it appears dead and lifeless. I have only washed it a few times. I'm getting it cut in a few days because it's long and I'm hoping it will help to repair the damage. I'm also going to start supplements and get blood work since I'm now in my early 50s. Covid and hormones ugh not fun.. thanks again for this video, it's brought me some peace

I have seborrheic dermatitis and have a red spot of irritation near the nape of my neck where my hair is much less dense. I lost hair over the last year from stress. I did all the blood work and was cleared. Thankfully I’ve seen it grow back everywhere except that red spot. I think the stress also triggered the dermatitis. Is it safe to use the CurlSmith Booster and Elixir on that spot? I actually just purchased it but haven’t started it. The ingredients seem soothing so I imagine it can’t hurt but I was wondering what your thoughts were. Great video as always!

I have the same thing for several years on the nape of my neck in 2 spots. Mine is ezcema. It flares and then goes away but for me I don't put anything on it like that because it can make it worse.
@kimberlyespinosa80283 жыл бұрын
@@jenniferannfox2316 wow, interesting. My dermatologist had no idea what it was. She said it could be a birth mark but that’s impossible because it definitely wasn’t there before this whole dermatitis thing started. I’ve had red irritation spots near my hairline but those are under control and only flare when I sweat too much. This red spot by my neck has been persistent for over 6 months. Do you have any recommendations for how to treat it? I’ve done ACV, fluocinonide and coconut oil.

@@kimberlyespinosa8028 @Jennifer Ann Fox I'm no skin or hair professional but just an idea to play with! Why not trying some skin (not hair) products for these problems? I guess there is a way more skincare products for both eczema and seborrheic dermatitis than amongst haircare? Or try with good ol' aloe? I've personally had a bit dryish skin lately (it's combination otherwise) and I got me some centella asiatica aka cica, a gel and an essence and oh boy did it sooth my skin on the spot! Furthermore it remained moisturised for longer 😉👍 Since you both have the affected areas kinda close to the hairline, why not try something not-haircare? 😊
@GenaMarie3 жыл бұрын
That’s a great question, and I’m not sure. I know their other scalp care products are safe for seborrheic dermatitis and actually designed to help scalp conditions, but I’m not sure about these products in particular. You could reach out to the company to ask, or test a small area to see

Hi so detangling when dry before the shower is safe? I thought hair was weaker when dry? 😭
@GenaMarie2 жыл бұрын
As long as you're using an oil for slip, and being gentle with your hands, then it's fine. Our hair is weaker when it's wet because the hydrogen bonds temporarily break when wet, leaving it more likely to break if you're detangling. When it's dry, its less elastic so you have to be careful however it should be stronger.
@Cesparkle2 жыл бұрын

Okay this doesn’t really have to do with the video, but i have to wash my hair at night since i am a teen and have school. My curls always come out great after drying, but once I go to bed, they get all knotted so i end up brushing my hair, which leaves them super frizzy and the curls less definite. What should I do to stop the curls from messing up and is there a way i can Brush my hair without it getting all frizzy?

I started sleeping with a satin/silk pillowcase and a satin bonnet, tho the bonnet looks silly lol. Just putting it up in a loose scrunchie "pineapple"-style wasn't enough for my long hair. You may also wanna try a hair net, that way everything stays in place.

Gena dear, thank you for the excellent content but get your blood work done, if not for the health then for the vanity 😉 JK but a yearly checkup is a wise thing to do imo. Thank you gathering all the facts in one place, that one can turn to when in doubt!👍🙏 I personally haven't experienced an unusual hair loss 🤞 except for the beginning of my transitioning, 9-ish months ago. Have you checked them out?
@curlygurlxo3 жыл бұрын
The only thing I've heard is that sometimes hair can get dry and shed if it has too much protein, keratin has protein so can make it worse IF that's someone's cause. Also, which particular vitamins should be tested? I recently had iron, ferritin, and vitamin D done because I heard those were the main ones but wondering if I missed any
